The car "Moskvich 410": technical characteristics, tuning and reviews

It's very surprising, but the fact is that even in the USSR we developed comfortable and all-wheel drive cars. One of these machines can be safely considered the "younger sister" of the legendary "Victory", as well as an alternative to the Gorky car GAZ-69, which does not tolerate compromises. "Moskvich 410" is an exclusive at all times.

Soviet crossover?

Looking from the side, this car is perceived almost a hybrid of an off-road car for utilitarian use and an ordinary car. The clearance of 43 centimeters and a sufficient amount of space in the wheel arches indicates that the compact sedan is mounted on a powerful chassis from serious full-size SUVs.

However, this is a very deceptive impression. "Moskvich 410" all-wheel drive, it was developed specifically for traffic on serious off-road. In 50 years in the puddles, as well as road potholes and even small gullies could drive absolutely any light model with rear-wheel drive.

So, the "Moskvich 410" is the all-wheel drive version of the model 402. This sedan with a bearing reinforced body, suspension on the springs, reduced transmission in the transfer case.

Is it a crossover or an SUV? Appearance and design features say that after all the crossover, because the car is built on a car base. But you can take a chance and assume that a crossover is a marketing move, not a technological concept. Sense - the image of an SUV with very modest capabilities. And let it be during the creation of this car about marketing did not think, it turns out that "Moskvich 410" - all the same SUV.

Facts from history

This car is due to its appearance to builders. In the 50's, Moscow was not yet as huge as today - it was possible to drive the city in half an hour. But in the late 50's the leadership started mass building. Residents of the city began to gradually move into new apartments. The residents were pleased with their personal kitchens and toilet, but this joy was spoiled by the fact that it was difficult to get in the morning to work. You will say - the metro, but the speed with which the subway was built was much slower than the one with which developers worked. People stood in lines for a bus, which could be reached by metro. And to get to the bus, you have to get dirty in mud or deep snow, because residential quarters were also settled very slowly.

And at that moment the engineers of the Moscow Plant of Small Cars, who produced Moskvich, decided to help the residents of the now huge capital. Urgently, the "Moskvich 410" was developed based on 402 models.

Features of the body

The car was distinguished by a four-door bearing three-cubicle body. The body itself had a pronounced motor, baggage and passenger compartment. It was a fairly rigid farm, on which the engine and the landing gear units were fixed. The farm was welded into one knot of several. In order to give the farm rigidity, as well as for strength, the engine compartment and the floor were reinforced with two non-removable spars, which were connected by means of a special crosspiece.

Virtually all the connections in this design were completely welded. They were carried out by means of contact welding. In some places, the connections were further strengthened with the help of arc and gas technology.

Body parts were stamped from steel sheets. In comparison with the cases of past models, in 410-m rigidity was quite serious.

"Moskvich 410": the characteristics of the body

The wheelbase of the car was 2377 mm, and the length of the body was 4055 mm. The width of the car was the same 154 cm as the 402 model. The height, due to the greater clearance, was 1685 mm. Then it was considered the average growth of most men.

Hood

The hood was built on an alligator principle. It consisted of a one-piece stamped part. In order to increase the rigidity of the cover, transverse as well as diagonal amplifiers were welded to it. The hood was suspended on internal hinges. The castle was located in front. The drive handle of the lock was located in the cabin. To ensure that the hood does not open on the go, the developers have provided a special protection system.

Doors

Front and rear doors were almost identical. But on the rear there were special punchings, which carried a rather decorative function. They are very similar to those that were installed on the GAZ-21. The front door was closed with a key, and the rest could be locked from the inside.

Trunk

The cargo compartment could be opened with a special handle. It was located under the cushions of the rear seat. Particularly interesting is that when the trunk was closed, the license plate bracket was also closed. Under the number was a fuel filler cap.

Salon

It is possible to allocate a rear-view mirror fixed in the upper part of the windshield. Also it is possible to allocate a box for gloves from special waterproof cardboard, a heater, a washer.

In addition to all this, for fans of music designers have provided a dual-band radio. He accepted both local and distant stations.

"Moskvich 410": technical specifications

The wheelbase was created under the all-wheel drive. The car is designed for 4 passengers. The motor, which was equipped with this SUV, had a capacity of 35 liters. from. And a volume of 1.2 liters. The checkpoint had 6 transmissions. The weight of this model was 1180 kg. The maximum speed is 85 km / h.

Among the technical features, unlike the 402 model, this "Moskvich" received a steering gear that was installed in the GAZ M, and an oil cooler. Also the car had a leading front axle. "Moskvich 410" had an original design with hinges of angular speeds "Bendix-Weiss". The dispenser was two-step with the possibility of manual switching on.

At the same time, its main advantage is the ability to turn on the move. To do this, do not even need to squeeze the clutch.

Engine

With the exception of some parts, the same unit is installed on the car as on the 402 model. Compared with the 402-m here a little changed the shape.

This is in-line, four-cylinder, top-valve carburetor motor 407D. The unit is a modernized version of the K-38, which were previously installed on the Opel Kadets of the pre-war type.

The engine worked on the 72nd gasoline, which at that time was worth a penny. The fuel consumption was 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers when driving at speeds up to 40 km / h.

A little later, in 1958, on the 410th began to put the engines from the 407th model. It had a higher power of 45 liters. from. This significantly increased the capabilities of the car in off-road conditions.

The object for tuning

Today, this car is in demand among those who are engaged in collecting retro cars. Also these off-road cars are bought by fans of tuning of the car "Moskvich" 410. Tuning allows to restore the car or completely to change it beyond recognition, but often fans exactly restore this "Moskvich" in an original form. As a result, the machine grows in price and it can be sold for a very large amount of money. But it is better to leave such a treasure for yourself.

disadvantages

The car has got really good characteristics on passableness. The clearance was almost 220 mm. High landing allows you to overcome even deep fords. Wide tires compensated for the small engine power. Perhaps, this jeep was not suitable for severe off-road, but he really liked the Muscovites. After all then in the capital asphalt was far from everywhere, and on the way to work it was possible to get into serious mud. The car was very ahead of its time. The model was ordered even in Europe.

When operating the steel, there are significant drawbacks. So, because of the low center of gravity the car risked capsizing. The lightweight body lacked rigidity. The owners were required to know how to adjust the differential. "Moskvich 410" demanded accurate driving.

In 1961, this project was completely closed, although since 1958 has undergone many upgrades.
