A medication is prescribed (in combination with a diet) for the treatment of patients with high triglycerides, as well as patients with disbetalipoproteinemia, whose diet does not have an adequate effect.

The drug "Torvacard" instruction for use recommends for lowering the cholesterol, Xc-LDL ( low-density lipoprotein cholesterol ), apolipoprotein B, triglycerides. The drug is prescribed for patients with elevated HDL-C level for primary, family heterozygous, non-family hypercholesterolemia and combined type hyperlipidemia. In these cases, the drug "Torvacard" is used in combination with diet therapy.

The drug is prescribed to lower the level of total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in patients with familial homozygous hypercholesterolemia in the absence of therapeutic effectiveness of diet therapy and other non-pharmacological methods of exposure.

Before starting treatment with the drug "Torvacard", the instruction manual recommends adherence to a standard lipid-lowering diet (with a low amount of cholesterol and digestible carbohydrates). The established diet should be continued throughout the therapeutic course.

The initial dosage is ten milligrams. The drug is taken at any time of the day, once, regardless of food. The dose can be from ten to eighty milligrams.

The dosage is selected in accordance with the initial level of lipoprotein cholesterol with low density, individual response and the purpose of treatment.

The correction of the amount of medication taken is carried out every two or four weeks from the start of treatment and after a dose increase on the basis of control of the lipid content in the plasma.

In hyperlipidemia of mixed type and primary hypercholesterolemia, as a rule, it is enough to take ten milligrams once a day.

Therapeutic efficacy is observed after two weeks, after four weeks the effect reaches a maximum. With prolonged treatment, the result is preserved.

Do not prescribe medicine for severe pathologies in the liver, with hypersensitivity, pregnancy. The drug is not recommended for patients under the age of eighteen because of the lack of safety and efficacy information on admission.

There is no information on the ability of the active component of the drug "Torvacard" to penetrate the milk of a nursing woman. In connection with the likelihood of developing unwanted effects in infants during the period of therapy, lactation should be discontinued.

During treatment for women of reproductive age, it is recommended to use reliable contraceptives.

With special care, the drug is prescribed for chronic alcoholism, disorders in electrolyte balance of severe course, liver disease, arterial hypotension, epilepsy (uncontrolled), skeletal muscle diseases, trauma, surgical interventions (extensive), and metabolic and endocrine disorders.

When an overdose is likely a manifestation of arterial hypotension. In this case, symptomatic treatment is indicated.
