The drug "Augmentin" is a semi-synthetic penicillin antibiotic, which has a wide therapeutic effect.

It is produced in the form of tablets, drops, suspension, syrup, as well as ampoules for injections. The drug has a bactericidal effect on a wide range of anaerobic and aerobic bacteria, including beta-lactamase-provoking strains. The drug is well tolerated and has a low toxic effect on the patient.

Indication for the use of the drug "Augmentin"

The instructions for use recommend the use of a remedy for the treatment of various bacterial infections of the ENT organs and respiratory tract causing the corresponding diseases (otitis media, tonsillitis, chronic bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, sinusitis). It is also used to treat diseases of the excretory system, pyelonephritis, urethritis, and cystitis.

Medications "Augmentin 600" and "Augmentin 200" instructions for use and doctors recommend to use for the treatment of children. These preparations are a powder intended for the production of a thick suspension (the form and dosage are selected in accordance with weight and age). They are advised to use for the treatment of skin pathologies, inflammations of soft tissues. In addition, the medicine is used for infections of the joint and bone tissues, teeth, genital organs, respiratory organs, etc.

Contraindications to the use of the drug "Augmentin"

Instructions for the use of an antibiotic indicate the inadmissibility of using the drug in allergic reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics (cephalosporins and penicillins), as well as in cases of violations of the functioning of the liver and jaundice. The medicine is prescribed for children of any age, however, not every form is suitable for this. Breast children are given drops, kids from one year to 12 years are prescribed a syrup or suspension. When breastfeeding, there are no contraindications.

Side effects of the drug "Augmentin"

Instructions for use indicate the presence of some negative reactions of the body to the antibiotic. Side effects include skin allergies, dizziness, headaches. In rare cases, convulsions and hyperactivity (with overdose), vascular disturbances, vomiting, digestive problems, diarrhea are possible. There are cases of the occurrence of cholestatic jaundice and hepatitis in adults after prolonged use of the drug "Augmentin".

The instructions for use indicate that side effects are observed after or immediately during therapy, in some cases they may occur several weeks after the completion of the course of treatment.

Dosage and method of application of the antibiotic "Augmentin"

The frequency of administration and dosage of the drug "Augmentin" depends on the patient's weight, age, severity of the disease, and also the form of release. The duration of therapy should not exceed two weeks. In the case of a longer course, the patient should be monitored.
