From the point of view of psychology, the presence of a bow on clothes or a handbag speaks of the subtlety and sentimentality of nature, of a tender sensitive soul, of a soft and responsive character. Ladies decorating themselves with bows are romantic and sexy.

In order to transfer the beauty and airiness of decorations from ribbons to paper, one must know how to draw a bow.

Step-by-step drawing of a bow

This is a very easy lesson. In just 4 simple steps, even an aspiring amateur will master the technique of this elementary drawing.

So, how to draw a bow in stages?

Step 1 . First you need to determine the place on the paper, where the bow will be located. Place without pressure, draw a simple pencil. In the center of the designated space, draw a slightly oblate oval. This is the future node. From the oval up, to the sides and down symmetrically, take away 6 smoothly curved lines, as shown in Figure 1.

Step 2 . Now draw the main elements. To do this, on each side of the line, which move away from the oval-node upwards and to the sides, combine the pattern in the form of a heart. And the upper contour will be located slightly higher than the corresponding upper base line. For clarity, see figure 2.

The two lower lines are the basis for depicting the hanging ends of the tape. Draw the hanging ends of the ribbon so that the corresponding lower base lines are in their center. For convenience, refer to figure 2.

The ends of ribbons can be made any, to your liking. In our example, the artist depicted them in the form of 2 large teeth at each end of the ribbon.

Step 3 . The basis of the lesson is "How to draw a bow" learned. Let's give the picture a naturalness. To do this, we draw the notches in the oval so that it looks like a knot of light fabric, in the form of an elongated drop, we will paint the lower parts of the left and right wings of the bow. To depict the folds of the fabric, we draw on each wing two short horizontal streaks emerging from the center of the knot.

Last step

Step 4 . The eraser gently removes all the auxiliary lines that were drawn at the 1 st stage. If you have done everything correctly, your drawing will look like the final figure 4.

Now that you, the respected student, know how to draw a bow, you can experiment with the size of the bow or knot, the shape of the wings and ends of the ribbons. Each time the drawing will look different.

The bow will decorate any drawing. It can be painted as an ornament of a dress, placed on a hat or weave into a maiden braid.

Tips of the artist

• In order for the lesson to be fun, get the minimum set of tools for drawing with a pencil:

1. White thick paper, better not smooth, but grainy.
2. A pair of simple pencils of different hardness. Pencils are better to buy more expensive.
3. Soft eraser.
