Spirea Greshfish: planting and care, photo

Spireya Grefshem, photo of which in some ways resembles a salute, is a spreading and densely branched bush. During the flowering period, it is literally strewn with small white buds. The popular name of this plant is the "bride", whereas the scientific one is the gray spiraea by Grefshem.

Description

This decorative bush looks beautiful not only during its flowering. Its smoothly curving branches have a reddish hue and give it a spherical shape. And in combination with leaves that are painted in a bright yellow color, creates an indescribable beauty and contrast. The adult spirea of Greshfish, landing and care of which is carried out correctly, can reach two meters in height.

The main difference between the species and the rest of the genus is its dense leaves, which have a fluffy exterior and a dusty green color, as if powdered with ashes. Apparently, for this reason this species of spirea is often called gray.

And although the height of the bush rarely exceeds two meters, but the width of the spirea of Grefshem, care of which does not require special efforts, will grow well, if you create suitable conditions for it. However, most gardeners subject the plant to regular pruning. Spirea Greshfish, whose photo after regular processing will resemble a sprawling fountain due to its reddish-brown branches and spreading crown, almost immediately attracts attention on the site.

Features

The flowers of its inflorescences are arranged in the form of a brush. They are of medium size and evenly distributed throughout the branch, thus creating a garland effect.

Spirea can grow on any soil, under the sun or in the penumbra. This shrub is a real long-liver. When creating suitable conditions for its growth, he will please the owner of the site in one place for more than thirty years. Judging by the reviews of gardeners, the plant can withstand a complete shadow. True, this reduces the number of inflorescences that Gramfish gives spiraea.

Landing

And the care for this plant, and its reproduction, practically do not cause difficulties. For landing, you need to choose a sunny place, because in the shade the culture will develop more slowly. Thus it is necessary to take care of the nutritiousness of the soil. However, few requirements are imposed on the substrate. The soil can be any: alkaline, acidic, but not over-dried. It is most appropriate to plant Gregsheim's spire in the autumn, when the trees have already got rid of the leaves, although some gardeners put the plant in the ground and in the spring - until the buds bloom.

Reproduction

Spirea Greshuish is often found in Russian gardens. The plant multiplies in three ways: cuttings, seeds and layers. The first method is the easiest and therefore the most common. From the bush are separated young, already strengthened shoots, which are divided into ten-centimeter fragments and immediately planted in soil or in a container. Cuttings take root quite quickly: in autumn shoots planted in July, there is already a fairly developed root system.

In this case, the planting material should be harvested only after the full flowering of the bush. Young, almost green cuttings in no way suitable for rooting. Fragments are taken from the already lignified escape. Graftsham sprouts in spruce in the spring, when the leaves have time to blossom. To do this, the extreme branches, completely deflated to the ground, are fixed, and then densely watered all summer. Separate the layers to fall or next spring.

Plant the planting material at a distance of twenty centimeters from each other. At this time, the drying of the soil should not be allowed, therefore, until the final development of the root system, the issue of humidity remains relevant.

Care

Spirea Grefshem, landing of which in a permanent place is carried out in the spring or in the autumn, is undemanding. Care for her is reduced to the usual actions: watering, sheltering and pruning. The first point, to the delight of gardeners, for spirea can be irregular. Abundant watering of the plant is only required during the drought season, when the soil, excessively dry, becomes critical for this beauty.

It is not necessary to cover the culture, since it is sufficiently frost-resistant. But spirea Grefsheim has one feature: she is afraid of sudden temperature changes. Therefore, in order to prevent the gardeners still cover the plant, laying at its roots a thick layer of leaves.

Trimming

This process is considered one of the most important components of the care for spiraea Grefshem. The bush easily shaves, so it can be given almost any shape. In addition, pruning promotes maximum abundant flowering of the plant in the following year.

They ease the bush in the summer. Young shoots up to strong buds are cut off the faded shoots, while the weak shoots are completely removed. In adult plants, a quarter of the shoot from its base is removed, and the rest are simply shortened.

Spirea Grefsheim refers to photophilous bushes, but it perfectly tolerates and partial shade. The plant feels well on any soils, but gardeners recommend giving preference to a weakly acidic soil. Before the beginning of flowering, spiraea requires fertilization with a complex mineral composition. The following top dressing is best done with phosphorus-potassium mixtures.

Gryfshay's spirea practically does not suffer from anything and is almost not attacked by insects. That is why caring for this culture is not a heavy duty, but easy, pleasant troubles, for which this plant will thank the owner for its beauty and longevity.

Use in landscape design

Spirea Greshfish, planting and caring for which from a grower does not require special knowledge or skills, is considered a real godsend for decorating large garden plots. In landscape design, according to experts, the beauty of Spirea Greshfish is perfectly emphasized by other plants, creating a kind of background for this culture. The plant can also serve as a decorative hedge on the plots. In this case, in addition to the aesthetic pleasure of the owners, it will perform the function of a defender against dust.

The homestead can look original, on which it will be possible to successfully combine several different types of this culture. It can perfectly complement the snow-white and blossoming spring "bride" Japanese spiraea, which produces in summer bright pink or red inflorescences. Very well the bush feels and in group of other plants collected in mixborders. With such a planting, the homestead will be surrounded by flowers all season long.
