How to grow lilies: the secrets of skillful gardeners

Lily is a flower that has always amazed with its grace and beauty. This plant, grown at home, will be a worthy adornment of any apartment.

But in order to understand how to grow a lily at home, you need to know some secrets of caring for it.

So, first you need to prepare a pot of a small size. At the bottom it is necessary to put drainage, consisting of small pebbles or shards. Then it is necessary to fill the pot with earth for five to six centimeters. The land mixture should consist of coarse-grained sand, turf and leaf humus. The bulb should be placed in a pot, gently spreading its roots in all directions, sprinkled with earth, but not to the end, and that its top a little rose above the soil. The ground must be slightly crushed.

After this, the pot is placed in a cool but well-lit place, for a period of two months. The temperature should be about four degrees. Soil should be maintained in a moderately moist state. Next, you need to know how to grow lilies after this time.

When the first shoots appear, the flower needs to be carried to the place illuminated by the sun, for example, on the balcony. From that time, watering the plant should be gradually increased. Every decade, we need to fertilize the soil with organic fertilizers.

When the lily blooms, you must tie the flowers. Abundant watering should be provided for the entire flowering period. When the lily ceases to blossom and the stems die, the bulb must be taken out of the pot and placed in a cool place for the winter period until the next landing.

Those who have a plot of land or a front garden near the house do not need to be reminded of how to grow lilies, because this flower decorates every year flower beds or personal plots. The most common is the variety of tiger lilies. A bed of large orange flowers in black specks always looks very impressive.

There are many varieties of lilies that have different colors, and stems of different sizes. Each variety of this plant has its own specific smell. Depending on the variety, the flowers can be arranged in different ways relative to the stem: up, down, sideways.

Different species of this plant in the garden plot are divided into separate groups, since growing a lily of a certain grade is necessary in different soil and light conditions. For one species, good sunlight is needed, while the other kind, on the contrary, prefers a shaded place. But there is one thing that unites all of them: intolerance of water stagnation, so flowers try to be located further away from groundwater.

If the stems are too tall, they are tied to supports. Flowers that have dried up need to be removed immediately. In the autumn, when the lilies have faded and the stems have dried, they must be cut off and dry stems removed far away to prevent the development of diseases and pests.

The most important condition for how to grow lilies is to transplant them to another place every three to four years. During the transplant, the roots should not dry out. Watering the lilies should be done under the root so that the water does not touch the stems and leaves. In order for the plant to develop better, flowering was abundant, after transplantation it is necessary to partially remove the buds.

How to grow lilies properly, how to successfully reproduce them, depends on the safety of certain varieties and their yield. The easiest way to reproduce is bulbous. Around the main bulb a so-called nest is formed, consisting of three to seven bulb of the daughter, each of which has its own root system. In early spring, the nest is removed from the ground and the daughter bulbs from the maternal are carefully separated. Then carefully disconnect them and plant them in a new place. Do not forget about the feeding of lilies. The first one must be produced three weeks after planting, and it should be borne in mind that each sort needs its own specific care.
