History of creation and the UN Charter

The United Nations is a form of international cooperation. The goal of the organization is to maintain peace, international security and strengthen and develop cooperation between countries.

The first steps in developing mechanisms and partly the UN charter began to be developed already in the middle of the nineteenth century. The maximum impetus in the development of the organization was with the outbreak of hostilities in the Second World War in 1942.

To date, scientists are arguing about which country took the first step in creating the United Nations. Scientists of the West argue that the Atlantic Charter of Roosevelt and Churchill, which was signed on August 14, 1941, was the document confirming the creation and charter of the UN. While scientists of the Soviet Union speak of the emergence of a declaration signed between the USSR and Poland on December 4, 1941.

However, politicians on both sides agree that the official UN charter was adopted on April 25, 1945. On that day, delegates from fifty countries of the world gathered in San Francisco. The Charter of 1945 consisted of nineteen chapters and one hundred and eleven articles. The ratification took place on 24 October and was adopted by five members of the Security Council. Therefore, this day is considered to be the International Day of the UN.
One of the most important stages in the creation of an international organization was a conference in Moscow in 1943, in which all the allied states took part.

The declaration, adopted on October 30, 1943 by the representatives of the Soviet Union, America, Britain, China, was also quite an important step in the creation of the UN. Recognition of the need to form an international organization with the main goal of supporting peace and security, which was based on the principle of sovereign equality of powers, was held on that day. For the first time such a company had a clearly expressed political character.

Another one of the most important stages in the creation of the United Nations was in 1944 a conference in Dumbarton Oaks. Almost all principles and mechanisms in the management of the organization's activities were agreed here. The decision to convene a conference, as well as to amend some points of the documents adopted at Dumbarton Oaks, was taken at a regular conference in Yalta in February 1945.
The last and decisive international step in the creation was a conference in the world-famous city of San Francisco, held from April twenty-fifth to June 26th, 1945. The UN Charter of 1945 came into force in late October 1945.

The adoption by the majority of states of the charter gave hope to people for a bright future without war and close cooperation of countries in matters of society and economy.

Initially, the spectrum of the UN activities, from the point of view of the Soviet government, was to concern only the support of international peace and security. The main purpose of the charter was to protect humanity from a new world war.

From the point of view of representatives of the Western powers, this company was considered as a multifunctional organization. Its main functions and objectives were to be the cooperation of states in matters of economy, culture, science, society, and also in politics.

At the moment, the UN Charter touches upon issues and policies, and social interaction, and issues of culture and science.
