Top dressing of garlic in spring

Garlic is one of the most hygrophilous and cold-resistant crops. The sensitivity of this culture to the acidity of the soil is very high, and therefore fertile and neutral soils are preferred for planting garlic.

Prepare the beds for planting should be about thirty days before the planned date. In the soil you need to make humus with the addition of potassium superphosphate (per pound of humus - one tablespoon of the drug). Add a half-liter can of wood ash to the mixture.

For planting, it is necessary to select both large and medium garlic bulbs, which must be divided into individual teeth immediately before planting into the ground. If there are only 2-3 teeth in one head of garlic, then this bulb is unsuitable for planting, even if the teeth are large and fleshy.

By the way of planting, such a culture, like garlic, is divided into spring and winter crops. Spring garlic is planted in the spring, and winter - in autumn.

Adding garlic in spring is an important stage, without which it is impossible to get a good harvest. The first top dressing of spring garlic is best done with a solution of urea. To prepare the solution, take a tablespoon of this substance and dilute in ten liters of water. Top dressing of garlic in the spring with a solution of urea is made in the calculation of 3 liters of fertilizer per one square meter of planting.

The second feeding takes place using a solution of nitrophosphoric or nitroammophoska. Two tablespoons of one of these fertilizers are bred in a bucket of water. Approximately three liters of the solution obtained are used per square meter.

The third top dressing of garlic in spring is made with a solution of superphosphate. To prepare the solution, two tablespoons of the chemical are diluted in a bucket of water.

To get a good harvest, you need proper and regular care and, of course, the introduction of fertilizers. As many truck farmers know, garlic loves fertilizer with ash and organic - manure. Very effective top dressing of onions and garlic is slurry, diluted with water at the rate of 1: 6. This fertilizer can be applied 2-3 times during the growing season.

However, one should refrain from introducing fresh manure into the soil, as well as increased doses of various nitrogen fertilizers, since such top dressing of garlic in spring or at other times can lead to active growth of the vegetative mass and, at the same time, to a decrease in yield. Garlic (especially with regard to winter varieties) is responsive to the introduction of potash and phosphate fertilizers, as they increase the winter hardiness of this crop. It should be watered abundantly and do not allow drying of the top layer of the soil, especially it is important during the formation of garlic bulbs. About a couple of weeks before harvesting, watering should be completely stopped.

In the last days of June, when the tops have already grown enough, a solution of potassium chloride and urea is introduced into the soil. To prepare a solution of 10 g of each drug diluted in a bucket of water.

Spring top dressing of garlic is an important stage, the significance of which is difficult to overestimate. Correctly applied fertilization will help increase crop yields at times.
