Some tips on how to store honey in honeycombs
Useful properties of honey are known to everyone, but not every product sold in the store is natural. Moreover, often we acquire a certain substance with a modified composition, where sucrose, fructose and various preservatives are added to prolong the shelf life.
The usual honey product, as you know, should be stored in a clean container, preferably it should be glassware, which will prevent the appearance of fermentation processes, which undoubtedly reduces the quality of the product. However, if you are concerned about how to store honey in honeycombs, then the external conditions are somewhat different. For example, the most suitable container for such a natural substance will be wood barrels of linden, birch, cedar or beech. In principle, it is not forbidden to use enamel or glassware. The most important condition that honey storage requires in honeycombs is that the dishes used are clean and protected from access of microbes in order to prevent fermentation and appearance of foreign impurities in the product composition. In no case can be used containers of various alloys, for example, lead and copper, because these metals can react with acids in the honey, which in turn leads to the formation of harmful substances in it.
It should be taken into account that regardless of where to store honey in honeycombs and at what temperature, it will not be possible to avoid its crystallization. The product, which is extracted from cells of natural origin, undergoes so-called sugaring, but this does not affect its composition and quality. If you want to avoid such a phenomenon, you should regularly collect weekly crystals from the surface, which will keep the liquid consistency for a long time.
