In the broadest sense of the word snobbery is an emphasis on belonging to a particular social or professional circle of people. Such belonging is manifested in everything: in clothes, deeds, speech, posture, gait, etc. And the circle of interests, to which the snob considers himself, is almost always informal. This means that snobs are engaged in self-aggrandizement, they often do not take into account the opinions of other people, and their behavior is arrogant and pseudo-aristocratic. In addition, snobs for some reason consider themselves to be elite, although in reality (among other professional and social groups) they are often treated with condescending contempt. People just understand that snobbery is just a non-standard statement about their moral qualities, which has little to do with ethical norms.

Snob with all his strength is proud of belonging to his "elite" circle, and therefore protects him with all his strength, truth and falsity. Interestingly, another. Originally it was believed that snobbery is an accessory to the non-aristocratic class, the ability to "squeeze" into the circle of people of noble origin. Such people were calculated at once - you can not learn elegant manners in five minutes or even in five years. In this respect, snobbery is also a grievance for conservatism and the power of the aristocratic class.

On the other hand, our modern attitude towards snobbery and snobs can be more lenient. A man dresses well, he has excellent manners, he knows how to behave in a decent society. In the end, very good earnings. Agree, snobbery is after all a pleasure not from cheap. The question is, and what's wrong with that?

Of course, nothing. Except for a single moment: narcissism. Self-admiration, in whatever forms it manifested, always irritated. Especially if at the same time someone tries to teach others to live! And the snobs, unfortunately, have such a sin. Underlined discontent with everything that happens often turns into moralizing.

In addition, snobbery - the definition of human actions, sometimes - a polite definition of cultural and even moral fall. A person who is attributed to certain snobbish qualities, in fact, may not be a snob. However, he can behave "inappropriate in a decent society" way, "speak arrogant speech" or oppose themselves to others. In any case, it is a matter of contempt for others, passing into a disdainful-condescending tone with the surrounding world. Snob as if puts on his gloves and is afraid of any way to get dirty. And he constantly stresses that he is forced to communicate with people who are not interested in him. Thus doing them a favor.

This is precisely the main problem. Saying what snobbery means, we mean that people of this kind do not create and do not support the existence of values. They take advantage of the moment created by other people, but they do not try to create anything themselves. Aristocrats, at least, created a world in which all live - this world is open and accessible. A snob "closes" in his own world and does not want to understand and see other people.
