In the fall of 2012, a series of Russian-Ukrainian production under the exotic name "Jamaica" appeared on TV screens. Actors of the project at the time of its release were little known, except for Daria Poverennova and Maxim Radugin, but soon almost all who were shot in this television movie, became famous.

So what brought such incredible success to the project that he was able to get around most domestic and foreign TV series in the popularity rating according to the magazine "Stockbroker"?

First of all, this is certainly a story, based on the uneasy fate of a girl named Natasha Jamaeva, nicknamed "Jamaica." The real mother of the heroine died during childbirth, and the young father, not knowing what to do with the baby, threw her to the door of someone else's house. Kroshka found a janitor and brought up as her own daughter.

Years passed, Natasha grew up, and she had an amazingly beautiful voice. Meanwhile, the adoptive mother of the girl was drinking, so that the girl had to sweep the streets instead of her and sing on the street to make a living.

Once the guys from the next yard committed a robbery. To divert suspicion from them, their parents blamed all the blame on Natasha. Against the innocent girl, a criminal case was opened, and Sergey Rykov was charged with the investigation. The young investigator at first was ready to prove the innocence of the girl, but falling in love with her, considered it his moral duty to refuse to conduct business.

His colleague Gabriella Semashko, feeling for him, jealous Rykov and made sure that the new investigator put Jamayev in jail. However, Sergei still did not respond to her feelings and married her younger sister Margot, soon they had a baby in their family.

Several years have passed. All this time, Jamaica learned to adapt to the difficult life in prison. Despite enmity with some prisoners, she managed to remain a worthy person. Fateful for the girl was an acquaintance with Anna Ivanovna - a teacher in the colony. Considering the real talent of Natasha, she took it under her wing. The teacher found a talented imprisoned teacher on vocals, and soon Jamaica mastered the basics of musical notation, she learned to own her voice and began to read good books.

Natasha's foster mother, finally disappointed in people, committed suicide. This made Rykov repent of his actions and still help Jamaeva to find freedom. Only old feelings for the girl flared up with renewed vigor, and he did not know what to do.

In the meantime, Gaby is trying hard to provoke a conflict between her sister and Jamaica. In the end, she herself pushes her sister off the cliff, and she falls into a coma. Guilty in all, everyone believes Jamaica and they declare the girl wanted. To save Natasha, Anna Ivanovna helps her to make a plastic surgery and get new documents. Together they go in search of the real mother of Jamaica, and also try to help Margo regain consciousness, since she is the only one who can prove Natasha's innocence.

The main characters of the project

In addition to the confusing plot, the actors provided the "Jamaica" series with actors and roles that they performed so well. Many spectators accused the project of being too long, but continued to look at it for the sake of the heroes they loved. The main heroine Natasha Dzhamaeva (actress Lyudmila Svitova) is a sincere and vulnerable girl. However, at the same time she is very brave and capable of repelling anyone who tries to harm her. The character of Jamaica is ambiguous: on the one hand, it is ready to give life for loved ones, and on the other hand, it can give up personal happiness, if it is necessary to act dishonourably for this. Having changed her appearance, she arranges a gardener in the house of her real mother Victoria Samghina under the name of Valentina.

Natasha's mother - Victoria Samghina (Daria Poverennova) - appears only in the fifteenth series. Once in her youth she gave birth to a child who was lost. Although now, after so many years, Victoria was able to achieve everything that can only be dreamed of (a successful business, a loving husband and daughter, her home and position in society), thoughts about the lost child continue to torment her. By the nature of Samghin is very similar to his eldest daughter, only matured and wise by experience. However, unlike Natasha, Victoria is quite an impressionable and amorous woman. Because of this, she periodically has novels on the side.

Sergei Rykov (actor Maxim Radugin) - an investigator in love with Jamaica. Honest servant of the law, and after a private lawyer. Like Samghin, he is amorous enough and sometimes weak-willed. It is thanks to this his line that Gaby manages to turn many of his intrigues. In the course of the series, he was in love with Margo, then in Jamaica, and then in Samghin. Closer to the finale is confused in his feelings and tries to understand them.

Gabriella (Gabi) Semashko (actress Natalia Rudova). One of the brightest and most complex characters. She is a beautiful, strong and inventive girl who, from her childhood, is accustomed to receiving whatever she wants. Everything changes when she falls in love with Rykov - Gaby becomes literally obsessed with him. To achieve reciprocity, it goes to any meanness and crime. But Sergei still has no reciprocal feelings for her. That's why Gaby focuses all her hatred on Natasha, and then on her sister Margot. Ultimately, it becomes the cause of suicide of the father.

Another character of the series, obsessed with Jamaica, is Ninka Tikhaya (actress Catherine Kisten). Having disliked the girl in the colony, she tried to break down and even kill her with all her strength. However, thanks to Anna Ivanovna's efforts, all her attempts were unsuccessful. Once released, Nina continues to pursue Natasha, dreaming of destroying her.

Anna Ivanovna (actress Vita Smacheluk) is a teacher of Russian language and literature in the colony. Intelligent and educated woman. She is very clever and inventive. One of the most well-documented images of the television series. Constantly rescues Jamaica from various troubles. At the same time, audiences often hear the poems of the classics of literature from her lips, and this gives the "Jamaica" TV series a twist. She is in love with Dr. Oleg Panin, and she responds to him in kind, but serious relationships are tied to them only towards the end of the series.

Ivan Kharitonov (actor Vitaly Egorov) - conductor, in love with the main character. As a man of art, he has a fairly mild and compliant character. However, at the moment of danger, he manifests himself as a real man.

It should be noted that the project has a lot of male characters, but all of them are rather poorly spelled out and look secondary to the heroines of the Jamaica series. Actors who have performed male roles, in themselves, are not bad enough, but their characters are all as one weak and weak-willed, allowing you to easily control yourself. Thus, this project could not sufficiently interest the male audience.

Due to unusual and attractive appearance, Maxim is often removed in the role of foreigners and teachers. Russian actress Darya Poverennova at the dawn of her career played episodic roles in "Yeralash", but she was remembered by the audience on the Russian-Ukrainian TV series "The Birthday of Burzhuy" and its continuation. Oddly enough, this actress played her most memorable roles in television series of Russian-Ukrainian production, among them "guardian angel" and, of course, "Jamaica". This project also helped ignite other television stars. Among them, Ukrainian actress Galina Bezruk, who played a housekeeper Dusya. By the way, it was she who was the "voice" of Jamaica. After participating in the project, the actress became very popular. She performed one of the main roles in joint Russian-Ukrainian projects "While the village is asleep" and its continuation "The Last Janissary." Today, Galina is very much in demand at home and is often removed. In 2014, with her participation, five serials appeared, five more - in 2015.

Also, in addition to the main trio, there were actors in the TV series "Jamaica" who became popular even before participating in the project. Among them is the star of Tatyana's Day Natalia Rudova. Despite the fact that the actress has a model appearance, on television, she fell into quite a mature age. However, this did not prevent her from making a fast career. Before "Jamaica" she managed to star in such TV series: "Breathe with me", "Gyulchatai", "Amazon", "Univer. New hostel "and other projects. It is worth noting that Rudova has established itself as a dramatic actress, so most often she is instructed to play complex characters. She also starred in a frank photo shoot for the men's magazine "Maxim".

Some actors who shot in the "Jamaica" series became famous before participating in this project. The popularity of Maria Lugovoi brought the role of blind pianist Tasi in the series "Red." However, after the "Redhead" Lugovoi was not very often removed. Her character in "Jamaica" is quite similar to the heroine from "Red". Sometimes it seems that the authors of the script did not carefully work on the image of Mary's heroine, as a result she turned out to be faded and lost among other actresses of the television movie. A whole galaxy of talented actresses breathed life into them. Perhaps, it is this and, of course, an intriguing plot that allowed "Jamaica" to gain immense popularity and spectator love.
