It so happened that the only more or less reliable source of communication in the vastness of our vast country is still satellite channels and a wired telephone. We will not touch on the satellites in this article, but let's talk about telephony. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the entire network was partly given to some local industry leaders, and partly to the management of the same Rostelecom. At that time, few people were interested in this promising market, and therefore the industry was in a very deplorable state.

Only in 2006, IDSL started to arrive in our country at snail's pace, which at that time appeared in almost every major city. By today's standards, prices were monstrous: from one to five rubles for an unfortunate megabyte! However, after Dial UP, it was also happiness.

That's when the company began to develop intensively. Considering that virtually all telephone networks already belonged to her, it was not difficult to do so. In passing, it turned out that another circumstance: residents of even small towns, not to mention villages and villages, could not expect to get access to the Internet in any other way except by means of Rostelecom.

Even now their choice is not rich: either a "whistle" USB with unpredictable properties, or more or less stable wire connection. Why did we tell all this? We have already said that the price for services is relatively small. It is that "comparatively", since if you look at the tariffs of operators in large cities, the picture turns out to be far from joyful ...

So, if the average Rostelecom tariff for 5 Mbit / sec costs from 500 to 1000 (and above) rubles (depending on the region), then in any large city for the same money you will get a minimum of 100 Mbit and above! And this - not to mention the speed of data transfer. At subscribers of Rostelecom it rarely exceeds 750 Kbit / s, while users of other providers are available 20-30 Mbit / s !!!

Other oddities ...

And this despite the fact that after a new firmware for the IpTV set-top box, subscribers can watch movies from it, only downloading them previously to the company's server. Users are puzzled by what it was all invented for, and they rarely use censorship. And in fact: if you decide to upload your home video in the size of 1.5-2 GB, then it will be loaded for at least 7-8 hours!

So, in this respect, Rostelecom, reviews (the Internet is of special interest for us), which we are considering, shows itself far from the best side.

About tariff plans

And how is Rostelecom doing with this? Internet rates are not very good. If earlier new offers were offered regularly, and they could be changed directly from the "Personal Cabinet", then in its new version you will not even be able to see which options exist in principle. Users say that most often when clicking the button "Change tariff plan", the message: "No tariffs for the transfer" found.
