Raising a kitten, or How to tame the wind?

All lovers of cats know that raising a kitten is a process not only fascinating, but also very complex. How to tame and make a domestic animal, which is born to be a free predator? And in fact all cats, first of all, predatory animals. Especially well with this fact are familiar to those whose hobby was the breeding of kittens. Of course, we are used to the fact that soft, fluffy and ever-purring lumps, getting tangled under our feet, begging for food, playing and doing their own things, but very few people are able to see the other side of this process: hunting and adaptability.

The exception to the general rules are, except that the Maine Coon kittens, who are born soft and flexible by birth, are extremely kind and peaceful despite their large (unlike usual cats) size. These cute animals are bred in Maine with the aim of being a kind of decoration at home, which they are very good at coping with, but even they have their own character: they are extremely vulnerable and require a lot of love and affection. So what is this process - the education of a kitten? Torment or joy? We will talk about how to do this correctly, below.

Several important rules of education

- Decide. Before raising a kitten, decide for yourself who you need: a decorative hot-water bottle, which will sleep with you in the same bed and warm up on winter evenings; A cat-hunter who will catch mice and guard the house instead of a dog, or a wayward cat-self-self-master? From your choice, in the first place, will depend on the methods that will have to use in the process.

- Carrot and stick. Education of the kitten so strikingly different from the process of domestication of any other animal, that here the saint should become a rule that calls for minimizing the whip, but to provide the maximum of gingerbread. Cats are extremely sensitive to offense. One careless kick or slap can cross out the entire educational process. Praise them more often and approve of their care. For example, if your kitten brought you a dead mouse in your teeth, do not rush to faint! Thus, he showed concern for you, as if worrying about not starving.

"Talk to the kitten." Yes Yes! Just say how to talk to a friend, to a person. Cats very well perceive the intonation of the voice, feeling their host is angry or glad. Therefore, cursing pussies, it is enough to say only a few words and deprive for the time affection. It would be a mistake to consider these wayward masters of their lives as stupid creatures, because sometimes they understand us much better than people.

- Freedom. Do not deprive the kitten of freedom. Never lock them, do not wrap them in blankets for a long time and, if possible, do not leave alone. For cats who have lived for centuries in open spaces or in forests, limiting freedom means depriving them of the opportunity to splash out all the enormous potential that is embedded in them.

And remember that raising a kitten is the same as raising a child: the process is complex and does not allow neglect. And, bringing this animal to your home, making your home its territory, you take on a huge responsibility.
