Proper training of a German shepherd

To the owner of such a dog as a German shepherd, it is very important to know how to properly train this animal. Dogs are very clever and intelligent creatures, so if properly addressed, they can make obedient and executive animals.

Where to start

Training German Shepherd includes not only the study of new teams, but also the education of a dog. Begin to accustom your pet to discipline is necessary from a month old. To begin with, you need to explain to the dog who is in charge of the house, where its place is and what it is absolutely forbidden to do. You do not have to allow the puppy to do what you do not like. In the future this can be a big problem.

To train a German shepherd dog at the highest level, the dog must obey you without question and consider you an authority. To achieve this, from an early age it is necessary to actively participate in her life and upbringing: walking, playing with it, feeding, bathing, etc. If you want a dog to be family and equally listened to all family members, then everyone should participate in its education.

The training of a German shepherd will become a success, if its endurance, strength and sociability are developed. To do this, you need to walk a lot with it, preferably a visit to the pool or water reservoir in the summer. Do not forbid your pet to communicate and play with other dogs and people. All this will be to your advantage only in further studies.

Basic Commands

There are many schools for the education of dogs, but with the patience of the owner, training the shepherd at home is no worse.

The "Sit" command

You need to start with a simple one, so this team is best suited for starting the training. Training the German shepherd must necessarily take place in a quiet uninhabited place: a park, a forest, a courtyard, you can even in the apartment. The main thing is that nothing distracts the animal. Prepare a treat for the dog in advance and put it in your right hand. Put the animal to your left, after which, when you say "sit", with your left hand, click on the dog's croup, and place your right hand against the snout so that it sniffs the treat. As soon as she sits down, give her a treat, praise and repeat the command. When the dog learns to sit down without a clue next to you, start teaching her to do it away from you.

The command "lie"

This command is executed from the "sit" position. When the dog is sitting next to you, put your hand on the withers and press. At the same time, there must be a delicacy and a voice command. If the animal tries to get up, press down on the withers and repeat the command with a menacing attitude. After that, complicate the task: gradually increase the distance between you and the animal and the time of the command.

The command "to me"

Training a German shepherd at home should include this team. To study her, have patience. Walking with the puppy, call him to yourself with the words "to me". It is better to start still in the apartment, so that the dog can at least sometimes come to you. Every time the animal comes, give it a treat, iron it and encourage it with a voice. Over time, when the dog starts to approach the first call, the delicacy can be removed, but leave the encouragement with a voice.

The command "close"

To learn this team will need a short leash and a lot of patience. Take the dog on a short leash so that her shoulder blade is at the level of your foot. Say the command "next" and pull the leash. The dog should go near. At the slightest error, say the command, then pull the leash. Gradually release the leash to let it sag. When the dog will walk next in such conditions, the leash can be removed.

To achieve the desired result, it is not enough to know how to train a German shepherd, you need to have a lot of patience and a desire to teach her commands. The slightest rudeness or punishment - and the dog can completely refuse to listen to you. So be patient and educate your pet.
