Problems of newborns - the eye is festering

They say small children are small children ... But young parents do not know that these children can be small. The responsible mother and father of the newly-made baby do not see the little things in the life of a small person and they treat each problem as a world catastrophe. And it is useless to explain to them that all this is temporary and soon everything will be all right, there will still be panic, tears, experiences. And there is really nothing to worry about in the first year, let alone a month or even in the first week of a newborn baby's life. Then his eyes are festering, his tummy hurts, he spits a fountain, does not go to the toilet for several days, or, on the contrary, walks too often ... You can count such things endlessly.

The eyes of the baby are festering in almost every case. First the eyes turn red, then stick together, pus stands out. Sometimes they cease to open at all, why the young mother is almost deprived of reason and begins to follow the popular advice and drip the baby in the eyes of his own milk. But this certainly is not an option, since mother's milk, although indisputably very therapeutic, but in this case deprives the entire treatment process of the meaning completely. As a result of such procedures, the baby's eyes glue together even more, which makes the eye look even more dull. This approach can have dangerous consequences. It is best to leave the milk of the mother for the baby's spout and not to injure the child even more if the eyes are festering.

It is worth noting that newborn babies are sterile, because any, even the most innocuous infection can cause the child's eyes to fester. And nothing can be done about it. Often, the infection is still in the hospital. Can suppuration become and result of the drugs used during birth. And, maybe, my mother did not completely observe hygiene and forgot to wash her hands after visiting the restroom. And after the discharge from the hospital, there can be absolutely innumerable reasons. For example, the wind blew and dust rose during a walk, and as a result - the child's eyes fester. And, maybe, I had to visit a doctor, and in fact at the reception there were not only the same sterile babies, but also infected children.

What to do? To hide the child in a soap bubble? Do not you leave the house at all? No, in no case can this be done. The organism overcomes the infection and produces useful antibodies, the immunity will do its job. The entire first year of the child is a recovery period. All this time the organism of a small person gets used to a new environment, adapts. But you still need to disinfect it so that you do not run the problem.

Treatment, of course, should only be conservative. Any pediatrician or oculist will recommend first doing a massage of the lacrimal glands in order to clean them. Simultaneously it is necessary to make compresses on eyes, it is better to apply for this weak brew or infusion of chamomile. And certainly consult with children's doctors. During the first month after discharge from the hospital, the pediatrician and the nurse must periodically come and examine the newborn. Do not be afraid or embarrassed to tell them about the problem and ask questions. It is unlikely that you will find out that your baby has something essentially new and unusual, something that was not yet in medical practice. Usually, in addition to the compress, the doctor prescribes eye drops. The fact that the eyes of a newborn is festering is a very frequent phenomenon and it passes with proper care, usually within one to two weeks.

But, alas, conservative methods of treatment do not always help. It happens that the disease goes away for a while, and then comes back again. The reason is the undeveloped lacrimal canal, and not in every case helps massage. Then the baby will be assigned a simple procedure for washing the lacrimal canal, after which there will certainly not be any more festering eyes.
