Orchid in pots - the basic rules of care

Orchid - a very beautiful and original flower, so many people want to have it at home. Of course, we will have to exert maximum effort and patience, since the flower is noble, requiring special attention.

In the natural habitat, the orchid stretches to the light and tries to attach roots to any protruding objects, to bulges in trees and so on.

At home, an orchid is often grown in pots. Preferably choose dishes with transparent walls, because you can observe the condition of the roots, to monitor the moisture of the soil. In addition, the orchid in plastic pots feels very good. And to prevent excess moisture, you can make additional holes in the pot. The size of the pot should be approximately equal to the volume of the root of the plant.

Some people do not like the use of plastic utensils. Therefore, we can recommend clay pots. If an orchid is grown in clay pots, then in this case one can see a number of advantages. Firstly, pottery has good moisture permeability, so the volume of the pot is distributed evenly. The air also penetrates well into it. Secondly, pottery is cooled more strongly, and the orchid is known to be a "cold" plant. Thirdly, the clay pot can not overturn under the weight of the plant. Before planting an orchid in an earthenware pot, it must first be held for several hours in water, so that the clay is well moistened. If the pot was used more than once, then it must be soaked in a weak acid solution to remove salts accumulated on it. Therefore, to the question of what a pot for orchids is needed, it is necessary to approach strictly individually.

Perhaps the cultivation of orchid seedlings in bottles. But success can be achieved by following a few simple rules.

The main requirement in the care of young plants is patience. If properly maintained, the first flowering can occur in six to eight years after pollination. A young plant in a bottle should be tried to hold longer, as premature intervention is fraught with unpleasant consequences.

Only when it is visually possible to observe that the orchid in the bottle feels uncomfortable, and there is not enough free space or the leaves start to turn black, then you can take the following steps to take care of it.

Further cultivation outside the bottle environment can be done in special small greenhouses. To the bottom of such a hothouse, in order to avoid the accumulation of water, you need to put a drainage thickness of three to six centimeters. Ideally suitable for this purpose is small expanded clay, as it can hold moisture for a long time.

After the extraction of young plants from the bottle, it is necessary to remove the remains of the environment in which they were, since a completely different habitat is needed outside the confined space. Rinse the plants in warm water.

For successful growth, orchids need high humidity, as well as warmth and sufficient lighting. In summer it is recommended to install the greenhouse on a sunny place, as a result of which it will heat up and promote the formation of a steam climate. It is not advisable to put a fan near the greenhouses, as it will interfere with the creation of this microclimate, and the plants may become overcooled. Teplichku need to regularly ventilate, preferably at five or six o'clock in the evening.

Watering should be done in the form of spraying the outer soil layer. It is necessary to try to avoid getting water into the core of a young plant, as this will lead to its decay and then to death. It is undesirable to change the greenhouse to another place, since the plant painfully tolerates new light conditions.

Immediately after transplanting to a permanent place, the orchid in pots does not need additional fertilization, and the first six to eight months you can not worry about it. After this period, fertilizing should be done approximately once a month, otherwise more frequent fertilizer application can only harm the plant and flowering orchids can not wait.
