Mozart's opera "The Magic Flute": a summary

Many writers of the opera libretto often turned to fantastic stories. The struggle between Light and Darkness - in art this theme is immortal. This is Mozart's opera The Magic Flute, the content of which is a heap of supernatural events that result in the triumph of good.

Possessions of the Queen of the Night

The first action of the opera takes place high in the mountains: the beautiful prince Tamino escapes from the monstrous snake. Having lost hope of salvation, he loses consciousness. But the higher powers, to which the youth turned, heard his prayers. Three warriors hurry to help him. They admire the beautiful insensitive prince and kill the monster.

When they leave to inform their lady, Queen of the Night, that Tamino is saved, a strange character appears near him: a man covered with feathers, like a strange bird. In this line of the plot, the content of the opera The Magic Flute is more comical than dramatic. When the prince comes to himself and sees that the enemy is defeated, the braggart Papageno claims that he saved him.

The bird-catcher does not have long to enjoy undeserved gratitude: they are real savior, they are ashamed of the impostor and report that as a sign of their location the lady sends Tamino a portrait of her only daughter.

Prince goes in search of the princess

Here the further action is fastened, after all "the Magic flute" - an opera which is literally based on love. Prince, captivated by the picture of the beautiful Pamina, falls in love with her and expresses a desire to see her beloved, but this, unfortunately, is impossible. She was captured by a wizard Zarastro, who abducted her villainously. Tamino is called to come to the beloved for help. Then the Queen of the Night appears herself, which touchingly begs him to return her daughter. And if a brave man can do it, then the reward will be a beautiful girl.

When performing the task of Tamino will help the magic flute: the brief content of its miraculous properties boils down to the fact that it has the ability to shield from evil and turn human hatred into faithful love. The fowler Papageno must also go with the prince in search of the beautiful Pamina: for this he receives a gift of wonderful bells. Despite such generosity, he is not enthusiastic about the prospect and grumbles discontentedly, but his objections are of no interest to anyone. The matter ends in the fact that the heroes are set off. Together with them there are three boys - these are kind geniuses who should help them on the road.

The sequence of kidnappings

In the meantime, the kidnapper of the girls, the wizard Zarastro, failed to save his prey. Maurus Monostoyas, who was charged with guarding the princess, himself fell in love with the girl. Full of passion, he, in turn, abducts her and hides it. In the palace there is a serious stir, and Papageno suddenly finds himself missing.

He tells the kidnapped girl about Tamino, who fell in love with her, looking at the portrait - so much so that he agreed to go to the mighty Zarastro and return Pamina to his mother. It's not enough to say that the content of the opera "The Magic Flute" is built on love - it is built on a feeling that arises in characters who are unfamiliar with each other. Impressed girl agrees to go look for Tamino, who is behind his companion and came to the temple.

The priest tells the prince the unexpected truth: it turns out that Zarastro is not any villain, but a kind and just ruler. He took his beloved away only because this was the will of the gods.

Then the young man begs to say that he is with his beloved, and receives an answer: she is unharmed. Tamino is happy, but the meeting of lovers is postponed. Although Papageno and Pamina are busy searching for the prince, Monoistas interferes in the course of events (such is the "Magic Flute" - the opera's abound abounds with the abductors). They rescued the fugitives with bells: after hearing their miraculous sound, the Moor and all his minions disappear, driven by an unknown force.

Long-awaited meeting

In the next scene appears Zarastro. Pamina is frightened - she does not know how a powerful wizard reacted to her disappearance. But he is not only not angry with the girl, but also promises her help in finding Tamino. In the name of a powerful wizard, there is a connection with the Freemasons, to which the author of the opera The Magic Flute, V.A. Mozart. There is even a version that this work was written by order of the box.

Search for the prince did not have to - he was caught by the restless Monostoyas and led to the ruler, expecting to avoid punishment for the abduction of Pamina and receive a reward for the capture of her alleged savior. The calculation of the villain turned out to be wrong: for unsatisfactory performance of direct duties, he is sentenced.

Lovers rush to each other beside themselves with happiness.

The Way to Happiness

The second action begins with the fact that Zarastro informs the priests about the future fate of the young prince: he will become a minister in the temple of wisdom and his protector, and as a reward he will take his beloved to his wife (for the will of the gods to happen, the wizard actually kidnapped her). However, not everything is so simple: "The Magic Flute", the summary of which can not accommodate all the turns of the plot, can not give Tamino such a high honor, if he does not deserve it. Therefore, it must withstand a series of tests.

The Prince gladly agrees to all the conditions, saying that even death does not frighten him at all. In contrast, the "squire" Papageno desperately frantically: even the prospect of finding a companion of life (which the priests promise) does not inspire him too much in his exploits.

Mother and daughter

Minostatsu managed to slip away from the guards (and from the promised punishment). He is full of hope yet to achieve what he wants. Noticing the girl who fell asleep in the gazebo, he creeps up and kisses her, but then starts to run: in the garden the voice of the Queen of the Night is heard. Waking up, Pamina tells her that Tamino abandoned the idea of returning and firmly decided to serve the gods, but the mother is not delighted. She hoped that the prince would destroy the magician, and the Queen of the Night would regain her former power. So the opera "The Magic Flute", the brief content of which can be described as the struggle of light and darkness, outlines the struggle for power in a fantasy world where events take place.

Mother asks Pamina to persuade Tamino to flee, otherwise she will lose her lover. But the girl can not dare to betray. Then the Queen of the Night orders her to kill the wizard, otherwise she will renounce her daughter. The girl remains in fear and despair.

Hero Tests

And Tamino and Papageno (he still agreed to the trials under the pressure of the priests) go to meet their fate. The first test for them should be silence. For Tamino, it turns out to be heavy: after hearing the sounds of a flute, the lover runs out to him. She rushes to the prince, but he can not answer anything to her. The girl in despair: if Tamino stopped loving her, she does not need to live.

Papageno also unexpectedly turned up: when an ugly old woman appears calling himself his future wife, he is so angry that she could not get a word from him.

Now Tamino and the poultryman are waiting for the next test. To pass it, the lover should inform Pamina that she is leaving her. She sobs with horror and desperation, but the prince is unshakable.

Not behind the main character and funny Papageno: "The Magic Flute" is an opera in which happiness is all foreseen. The ugly old woman from the previous trial promises to be a good companion to him. Counting on what later will be able to get rid of it, the bird's bird agrees. And suddenly - about a miracle! - the old woman appears young Papagenoy. The birds are delighted: she is charming, and she has the same wonderful attachments in dresses, like her supposed husband.

The victory of light and goodness

In the next scene, Pamina is in the garden. She is inconsolable and is about to commit suicide: Tamino has renounced her and from their love. Now it remains only to die, but three geniuses appearing from nowhere console a girl: the prince is faithful to her.

Tamino comes to the cave, where he is waiting for the last, third test. Then Pamina appears: at last she has found her beloved, and now they will always be together. The magical flute helps them to withstand the exam. The summary of the tortures of a birdwoman would be tragic, if it were not funny. At first Papageno was unlucky: he was scared, and for this the gods took his bride from him. But the good geniuses again came to the rescue: pozvenev bells on their advice, the birdies gets it back.

The Queen of the Night is making her last attempt to destroy her rival: by enlisting the support of the same Minostat, she is going to destroy the temple. But then, finally, the day comes, and it becomes powerless: the light overcame the darkness, and the priests praise Zarastro.

There is absolutely nothing surprising that the work ends so life-affirming, because the author of the opera The Magic Flute is Mozart. The summary can never convey the main: the beautiful, sublime music of the genius composer, which is able to compensate for any shortcomings in the plot.
