History

The first artillery school appeared in Moscow thanks to Peter the Great in 1701. A few years later a part of the teaching staff was sent to St. Petersburg to open a cadet-type educational institution in the capital. At the initiative of Prince Mikhail Pavlovich from the cadets of the Cadet Corps, an artillery brigade was formed, which included three companies of pupils. The Mikhailovsky Artillery Military Academy celebrates its birthday on November 25 - it was on this day in 1820 that the official opening of the institution was held, where fireworkers and officers of the Pushkarskiy order were trained.

After the revolution, in 1919, the Mikhailovsky Military Academy of St. Petersburg was renamed in the spirit of the times and became known as the Artillery Academy of the Red Army. In the prewar period, in 1938, the academy transferred to Moscow, where in October 1941 it was evacuated to Samarkand. Re-evacuation took place in 1944.

From branch to academy

In 1952, a branch of the Academy was opened in Leningrad, where teaching was conducted at two faculties - ground and antiaircraft artillery. The following year, the educational institution was reorganized in connection with the separation of two separate arms - strategic missile forces and missile forces and artillery of the ground forces. In the light of the emergence of a new structure, the Leningrad branch received the status of the Military Artillery Command Academy.

In 1960, the Mikhailovskaya Artillery Military Academy was united with the artillery school of Leningrad. Since 1995, the faculty of advanced training and retraining of military cadres of officers has been opened in the educational institution. In 1998, branches were opened in Kazan, Kolomna, Saratov, which since 2004 have been transformed into Higher Artillery Schools.

From 2009 to 2011, a number of reorganizations were carried out, the purpose of which was the optimization of the educational process, the introduction of new standards of education and assessment of cadets' knowledge. In 2012, the MVAA (Mikhailovsky Military Artillery Academy) approved the concept of development of the educational institution. In 2016, the Academy received the Order of Zhukov, awarded for merit in the training of personnel.

Faculties

The system of obtaining knowledge is multistage and offers applicants to get a secondary special or higher education. All those who wish can continue their studies in the magistracy or in the courses of the Mikhailovsky Military Artillery Academy.

Directions for obtaining knowledge:

1. Higher education. After completing the course, a cadet gets a qualification in one of three areas of specialization:

  • "Means of automation of missile forces and artillery" (engineer, 5 years of training, junior officers).
  • "Radio engineering systems and complexes of special purpose" (engineer, 5 years of training, junior officers).
  • "Special electromechanical systems" - the direction has several artillery units in special combat arms (airborne troops, marines, tactical troops, land forces) - 5 years of training, qualification - engineer, junior officers.

2. Secondary education is conducted in the direction of "Information systems or technical operation and maintenance of electrical and electromechanical equipment" (training - 2,5 years, qualification - technician, military post - warrant officer).

3. Additional education. It is oriented to the current personnel of the servicemen. Training is conducted in the direction "Advanced training and retraining on the basis of higher or secondary education" (the term of study is from 2 to 4 months).

Educational programs of specialists include secondary and higher education, magistracy. Also, the Mikhailovskaya Artillery Military Academy offers educational programs for the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel, where the term of study is 3 years, qualification - researcher, research teacher. Training is conducted in five areas of military affairs.

Training in the MBAA provides an opportunity to obtain both a civilian specialty and full military training with the possibility of building a further career in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Russia. Requirements for candidates

Cadets of the last course of military schools (Suvorov, Nakhimov, Cadet), who received permission to enter, receive a referral from the heads of their educational institutions. In the admissions office they present a birth certificate, a passport, a military ticket, a document on full secondary education.

Entry exams

The educational institution assesses the level of knowledge of applicants, relying on the results of the USE and examinations in three disciplines conducted at the educational institution. The Mikhailovsky Military Artillery Academy assesses the passing score for each discipline on a 100-point scale.

Applicants applying for a full higher education are examined in writing in the following disciplines:

  • Mathematics (minimum score is 27).
  • Geometry (minimum score is 27).
  • Russian language (minimum score is 36).
  • Physics (minimum score is 36).

Physical training standards

The Mikhailovsky Military Artillery Academy (St. Petersburg), in addition to assessing the general educational level of knowledge, assesses the physical training of applicants, which includes:

  • Pulling on the crossbar (from 4 times).
  • Running for a short distance of 100 m (no more than 15.4 seconds).
  • The cross is 3 kilometers long (no more than 14.56 minutes).

The total number of points is set after performing all kinds of physical exercises. The passing score is not less than 120 units in the total amount of three exercises. Those who have not overcome the threshold level of points do not pass through the competition and are not enrolled in the academy.

The number of points required for enrollment is calculated in the total amount based on the results of written exams and physical fitness tests. At the end of 2016, the passing score for admission to the course varies from 75.3 to 91.

Admission campaign

The commission takes exams and assesses the physical training of applicants from 1 to 30 July. The process takes place on the basis of the Academy's training center in Luga, Leningrad Region. Delay for a good reason is allowed for one day, the absence in a longer period of automatic exclusion of the entrant from the examination process. Those who had circumstances of respectful nature, not allowed to start the introductory campaign in time, are allowed to take exams according to the established schedule.

During the admission process, candidates live on the basis of a training center in barracks, meals are free of charge. From entrants requires strict observance of discipline and regime of the day.
