Badge of the Cadillac and the history of the emblem

The Badge of the Cadillac is a pretty interesting emblem. For all of its 111-year history, it has managed to change about forty times. Rarely, which emblems are transformed so often. Gold-plated stroke, stylized arms, wings, crowns, inscriptions - which just was not! But today the emblem, for the time being, does not change. Well, the topic is quite interesting (especially for the owners of these cars), and it's worth talking about.

Historical facts

First of all I would like to tell a little about the history of which the "Cadillac" sign differs. It in this case is of no small importance.

The Cadillac badge is one of the few car emblems that truly corresponds to its name. What is it? The family coat of arms of de la Motte Cadillac - one of the noblest noble families. The Crown points directly to the French origin, and the pearls testify to the six ancient counties of this state. Seventh, it was probably decided to add from aesthetic considerations.

And the heraldic shield directly indicates the noble origin of the above-mentioned family. The fourth and first quarters of it display the arms of de la Motte. "Merletki" (birds) is a kind of interpretation of the swallow. Having settled in groups, the birds became a symbol of the Holy Trinity. "Merletkami" awarded knights, who distinguished themselves in the Crusades.

Color solution

Black color on a gold background is a symbol of wisdom and wealth. And the second quarter with the third was decided to add to the coat of arms after the genus was joined by extensive possessions.

The red field is considered a symbol of courage and courage shown in battles. The band, made in silver, is a reflection of charity, integrity, wealth and virtue. And the blue symbolizes knightly honor. So the "Cadillac" sign has a very noble origin, and the meaning of each element included in it is logically explained.

Interesting elements

Sometimes, in the period from 1938 to 1939, on the arms appeared spectacular faceted wings. But then, having found the idea attractive, from 1940 to 1941 began to decorate thus the hoods and trunks of the car. This hinted at the harsh routine and difficult situation.

The Cadillac sign that adorned the "golden sixties", "silver seventies" and "bronze 80's and 90's" depicted the famous coat of arms, framed by the branches of the laurel. It looks very impressive. For a long time, this emblem was crowned by every Cadillac.

The sign was decided to transform in 1999. Manufacturers wanted to further emphasize the desire of the concern to enter the new, upcoming millennium with improved cars. The Cadillac badge, pictured above, was decided to strip the crown and the bird. A wreath with a crest was designed in a certain degree in a graphic manner.

Thus, combining the style of Pete Mondrian (a Dutch artist working in the genre of abstraction) and the traditional emblem, it was possible to make a new symbol, in which it was possible to unite the branches of the future and the past harmoniously, and combine science with art.
