Adjustment of valves VAZ 2107 own hands

Perhaps very few of the car owners attached special importance to the gas distribution mechanism. But in fact he plays far from the last role in the ICE system. The efficiency of the engine will depend on how correctly and in a timely manner the valves of this mechanism will be closed and opened. Accordingly, these values affect the dynamics of the car, its acceleration, power and fuel consumption in general. And in order for the valves to function smoothly, a special gap is set between them, which sometimes can change its values during operation. In today's article, we will describe in detail the order of adjusting valves VAZ 2107 and learn the frequency with which this work should be performed.

Getting Started

First, you need to remove the cylinder head cover and install the piston (on the "classic" engines it is 4 on the account) to the TDC position. Next, we move on to setting the gap itself. For the beginning, the sixth and eighth valves are regulated. It is important to remember that the counting mechanisms are made from the front of the car. Next, we pick up a special dipstick and insert it into the gap. If it moves freely or, on the contrary, hardly passes, then the gap between the valves does not correspond to normal values. It can be corrected with just two horn keys. To do this, loosen the lock nut and adjusting screw. The latter is adjusted until the probe shows normal values. Remember that the car VAZ 2107 has only 0.15-mm gap between the valves.

After adjusting each pair of valves, always rotate the crankshaft by 180 degrees. Do this until we adjust all the values. Everything, at this stage, the adjustment of the VAZ 2107 valves is complete. After setting the optimal values, set everything back.

Helpful advice to motorists

When adjusting the clearance, remember that sometimes after tightening the lock nut, the slot may slightly decrease. Therefore, set values slightly more than 0.15 millimeters. However, in the final measurement of the gap, there should not be any discrepancies. If the error is at least 0.01 and more than a millimeter, the adjustment of the VAZ 2107 valves is done anew.

How often do this work?

It is worth noting that the regularity of setting the gaps in the cars of the "classics" family is not the same as compared with the younger models 2108-2109. Adjustment of VAZ 2107 valves is made with an interval of 10-15.5 thousand kilometers, while for cars of the "ninth" family this indicator can reach the level of 30 thousand kilometers. This is due to less reliable technologies used in the development of aggregates. However, do not be sure that up to 10 thousand your car will not need to adjust the valves. Sometimes it happens that the gap goes away after 5-5.5 thousand kilometers. If you ignore the so-called "symptoms" (knocking under the hood, loss of power ICE), you can stay with the burnt out valve.
