Overview of the car "Mitsubishi Dingo"

"Mitsubishi Dingo" is a subcompact of Japanese manufacture. The machine was produced serially from 1998 to 2003. The car was mainly used in the domestic market. But some specimens are also found in Russia, in particular in the Far East. The name "Dingo" came from "Bingo", which means "luck" in Russian. But was this model successful? Overview of the "Mitsubishi Dingo" - later in this article.

Appearance

The front of the car strongly resembles the features of the "Pajero" 2000's: huge oval headlights, a wide grille and a smooth hood. The Mitsubishi Dingo car belongs to the compact class. However, here again the Japanese visually widened the wheel arches. Both in front and behind, they protrude a little beyond the body line. The bumper was painted in the body color, but the mirrors were not. A couple of years later, the car underwent restyling. And if usually the manufacturers limit it to a new radiator grille, then the whole front part has been completely processed. So, "Mitsubisi Mirage Dingo" got an angular "front end" with high headlights and a flat grille in the form of a grid. The lateral part of the car almost did not change - even the line of arches remained in its original place. But the mirrors were chrome plated. Behind the car you can find out by the huge wide lanterns. No less large here and the line of glazing. From the factory, the trunk lid is slightly tinted. In addition, there are heating threads, as well as a windshield wiper. The boot lid is hidden under the company logo, and the latch of the lock is on the right side.

Dimensions

The machine has very compact dimensions. So, the length of the car is 3.9 meters, width - 1.69 meters, height - 1.62 meters.

Salon

All cars Mitsubishi Dingo came with a right-hand drive. Despite belonging to a compact class, this machine is as versatile as a full-scale minivan. So, the salon is quite spacious, and the seats with armrests have the function of transformation. For a couple of minutes the salon turns into a full bed for two people. Also due to the flat floor it is possible to move freely inside the machine. The shift lever is under the steering wheel and is to the left of the column. In the cabin there are all necessary niches, glove boxes. Side windows and mirrors are equipped with an electric drive (even in minimal trim levels). Owners praise the quality of finishing materials. The velor salon practically does not care, and the plastic does not rattle on the bumps.

Specifications

The car was equipped with three petrol four-cylinder engines. The base for the Mitsubishi Dingo engine has a volume of 1298 cubic centimeters. This is a single-purpose 4G13 unit with injector fuel injection. Its maximum power was 73 horsepower.

The most popular engine for the Mitsubishi Dingo is the 4G15 engine. Based on the notation, it becomes clear that this is a 4-cylinder engine with a volume of 1.5 liters. The unit was located transversely with respect to the body and had a series arrangement of cylinders. It is distinguished by a gasoline multiview and the presence of a two-shaft timing system. The maximum power of this power plant is 110 horsepower. For what this motor so fell in love with the people? Engine series 4G15 is one of the most hardy. In 1998, on one of the sedans "Mirage" was recorded a run of 1 million 600 thousand kilometers. Two years after the start of production in the line, another power unit from the 4G series appeared. This motor had a working volume of 1834 cubic centimeters. Its maximum power was 135 horsepower. This motor had several features:

  • Changed air supply to the cylinder. Oxygen did not come from the side, but vertically from above. As practice has shown, this contributes to an improved filling of the cylinder and a more even combustion of fuel.
  • The injection of gasoline was not carried out in the intake manifold. At 4G93 fuel was supplied directly to the combustion chamber (as on the diesel "Common Rail").
  • The engine pistons had a bottom with a spherical depression. This sharply directed the air in the opposite direction. Thus, an improved filling of the combustion chamber with the fuel mixture was carried out.

The entire line of power units is characterized by low fuel consumption. On a hundred machine spends about 7-8 liters of gasoline in a mixed cycle.

Transmission

Mostly on the subcompact "Mitsubishi Dingo" in 1999, an automatic transmission was installed for 4 stages with a hydrotransformer. However, in 2000 the transmission line was supplemented with the infinitely variable variator INVECS. Both transmissions are highly reliable and have a good reserve of life.

Conclusion

So, we found out what the Japanese car "Mitsubishi Dingo" is. Those who used this car in Russia, speak about it only positively. No serious problems this subcompact brought to the owner. Even now, almost 20 years later, this car continues to please its comfortable interior and economical engine.
