If suddenly the direction indicator, the glass cleaner, the light or the wipers have stopped working on your car, most likely the reason is hidden in the malfunction of the stalk switch. Solving this problem is quite possible without the help of specialists. How is the swivel switch and wipers dismantled? The answer to this question will be found in our today's article.

What do I need to do?

The first step is to prepare the tools. However, it does not take you a couple of minutes of free time, because all you need for work, this is a single cross-head screwdriver. So, where to start work?

To start, you need to unscrew the two mounting screws on the lower casing of the steering column to the power steering. In addition, we take out the screw of the connector podrulevyh switches, as well as the screw, fastening between the lower and upper casing columns.

Further it is necessary to take out all listed details, preliminary having removed a steering wheel. First, the lower and then the upper column cover is removed.

After that, we compress the switches with the fingers and take out the left element of their connector. We remove the shoe with the wires of the instrument panel. Similarly, the right-hand stalk switch is dismantled. In this case, it is necessary to remove the device wires from the panel board pads.

Installation of the new device is carried out in the reverse order, similar to removal.

On the domestic production cars, the first thing to do is remove the 3 fixing screws securing the two casing of the column. Improved operation of the switch mechanism

To begin with, we need to remove the lid of the element and take out the handle. After this, we will see the internal structure before us. What is indicated by the yellow line is the profile along which the rod moves when the turn signal indicator is switched. A clicking sound can occur for two reasons - when the part is turned on and when it is turned off. In the first case, the handle with the mechanism at the end will hit hard against the side of the case (when turning the turn signal). In the second, a characteristic sound arises from the spring-loaded rod, which beats into the center of the yellow line. It is very difficult to eliminate the last problem with your own hands, but in the first case everything is much simpler.

First you need to look at the switch handle and on its device at the end. The two arrows indicate its places near the wall of the hull. In this case, it is enough to glue a small piece of foam rubber or some other softening material on the double-sided adhesive tape (for example, to choose a rubber for greater reliability). Place under it you need to spend about 1-2 millimeters deep. Also, you can make the turn indicator turn on more softly. To do this, it is sufficient to shorten the spring by 1-2 turns.

Some motorists recommend sticking a piece of rubber on the lid itself, but in practice this does not do any good. The return lever, which is attached to this place, does not produce any significant sounds, so there is nothing to glue there.

Now go to the right switch. In it, too, we make the switching softer. As in the previous case, you need to shorten the spring for this. But it should not be reduced by more than 2 turns. At the same time, it is recommended to check the status of the contacts, which are shown by the wide arrow on the switch.

What did we get as a result?

Improved switch podruzlevoy began to work much quieter, almost without bothersome clicks. Thus, after only a few manipulations, we have slightly reduced the noise of the details of the mechanism, which will certainly affect the comfort of the ride (let it be insignificant). For the full effect, it is better, of course, to make a complete soundproofing.

Finally, we note that in order to reduce the noise of the switch, you do not need to install it from other models of the car. First, it is much more expensive than two-sided adhesive tape and a piece of rubber, and secondly, in its form it is unlikely to be combined with the overall interior design, not to mention the size and connection scheme.
