This period lasts from December to April. And the flood begins from the middle of spring and ends at the beginning of summer, most often in June. In the warm season the water in the river warms up to +26 ° С. Therefore, often on the beach you can find tourists. On the Volga in the Nizhny Novgorod region, closer to the regional city, there are several islands, which include the following: Kocherginsky, Krasavchik, Shchukobor, Teply, Barminsky, Podnovsky, Pechersky sands. Settlements on the river: Balakhna, Gorodets, Bor, Chkalovsk and, of course, the largest - Nizhny Novgorod.

The rivers in this region are used not only in industrial and transport spheres, but also for tourist purposes. For tourists on the Volga built a variety of recreation centers, boarding houses, hotels. Also, some visitors prefer to spend the night in tents on the coast. Tourist bases offer their visitors walks on swimming facilities down and upstream.

Oka River

Okara is a river in Nizhny Novgorod. It is the largest tributary of the river. The Volga. It was on the site of their merger that the city was formed. And the famous Volga-Oksky landscape has the name "Arrow". In addition to Nizhny Novgorod, the Oka flows through Pavlovsk, Bogorodsk, Navashino and Dzerzhinsk, related to the Nizhny Novgorod region. The river Oka is flat. As it flows through clay soils, its waters are more turbid. It feeds mainly on melted snow and falling precipitation. In winter Oka is covered with a thick layer of ice. The duration of freeze-up is about 5 months (similar to the Volga).

Also, this river is popular with angler-lovers, because in it there are more than 20 species of fish. They include: perch, bream, roach, ide, pike perch, burbot and others. Conditions for fishing here are more than enough, because on the Oka there are different spits, cliffs, stony and clay sites. And you can fish on the shore or with a swimming device.

In addition to the Volga and the Oka River, which river in Nizhny Novgorod still deserves attention? Only local residents can answer this question quickly. Pochayna - water flow, which in the XIX century is enclosed in stone pipes. It is the tributary of the Volga, the place of confluence is the right bank. It flows around the walls of the Kremlin.
