"Maserati Quatroporte": technical characteristics and features of all six generations

"Maserati Quattroporte" - is a luxury, sports full-size sedans, which are published since 1963. Of course, for more than fifty years, several generations of this model have changed. To date, starting in 2013, the sixth is being issued. But it is necessary to tell about everyone, as any model deserves it.

Start production

Even the first generation of "Maserati Quattroporte" could boast of modern (at that time) equipment and undoubted comfort. In the models of the 60s there was air conditioning, power windows, a V-shaped 260-hp engine under the hood and a powerful sports suspension. Such a car accelerated to a hundred in just 8 seconds. And the maximum speed was 230 km / h. At that time it was a real sports car. It is interesting that Leonid Brezhnev bought one of these cars for himself.

The second generation appeared in 1976. The new "Maserati Quattroporte" boasted a more refined design and hydropneumatic suspension. Under the hood it was decided to put the V-shaped "six". True, there was no serial release. All due to the fact that in the automotive industry, the strike movement intensified due to the unsuccessful alliance between Citroën and Maserati. However, several copies of the light still came out. And today many collectors hunt them.

Third and fourth generation

The further release of "Maserati Quatroporte" continued in 1976. Then the third generation began to be produced, and production continued until 1990. After the failure that happened with the second generation, the developers decided to return to the classic principle of the company. That is, to make cars rear-wheel drive and with a V-shaped "eight" under the hood. By the way, designed and developed the model of Giorgetto Giugiaro - the founder of the body studio Italdesign.

In the 90s, the fourth generation Maserati Quattroporte was produced. The debut of the novelty took place in April 1994. The design was developed by Marcello Gandini. He turned out to be quite unusual and even risky, however, he justified himself. Originality bribed motorists. But in addition to appearance, this machine still boasted expensive wood and leather trim - a truly win-win combination. By the way, the model is just great noise insulation. Of the features - 3-channel ABS, airbags, reinforced doors and automatic gasoline stopping system in the event of an accident.

Release 2003-2013

It was during these ten years that the fifth generation emerged. The novelty was simply stunning. All the details and spare parts of the Maserati Quattroporte looked great. This model is a successful combination of a classic sedan with a sporty, aggressive car.

You can talk about its advantages for a long time. But the most important thing is that it costs this car under the hood. 32-valve V-shaped "eight" in volume of 4.2 liters. This motor produces "400 horses". It is aggregated by a 6-band MKPP, and up to 100 km / h accelerates in just 5.2 seconds. The maximum speed is 275 km / h. This "Maserati Quatroporte" features are simply amazing. And the Sport GT version is even better. After all, in this modification the transmission is installed, which switches the speed by 35% faster. It was this car that stood in the garages of Silvio Berlusconi and Michael Schumacher.
