Laying tiles on the floor: how best to do the work

Often when repairing a bathroom or kitchen, you have to change the tile. Many prefer to do everything themselves, as laying the tiles on the floor costs as much as the tiles themselves . Tiles for floors and walls are better to buy different, because it differs from each other in thickness. Select the coating should be not only in color, but according to its technical characteristics, and especially pay attention to wear resistance. Laying the tiles on the floor begins with the calculation of its number. To do this, you need to measure the floor area, and then add another ten percent to the fight.

Ordinary ceramic tiles are usually glazed. But for bathrooms where the floor periodically is wet, it is better to use a tile with a rough surface for safety reasons, since it is not so slippery. Now on sale in a large assortment there is a stronger ceramic granite tile. The surface of it is both smooth and rough.

After selecting the most suitable tile, ordinary tile glue or special dry mortars are purchased. They are usually more expensive. Before choosing those or other mixtures, you need to know for what jobs they will be used - for indoor or outdoor, as well as for what room they are taken - for dry or wet. You should carefully read the instructions on the package or consult the seller. It is possible to lay a tile and on a cement mortar.

To mix the solution, you can buy a special construction mixer, which greatly facilitates the work and allows you to achieve a uniform consistency. From the tools you will need a toothed trowel or comb, with which the finished solution will be applied to the surface, as well as a simple trowel - it will be convenient for them to apply the solution to the comb.

Before starting a repair, you need to take out of the room all furniture, as well as remove the plumbing. Sometimes tiling on the floor is done on top of what is already available, but in this case there is no firm guarantee that the old glue will withstand additional weight, and then the tile will begin to crumble, and the floor level will rise by several centimeters.

Therefore, it is best to arm yourself with a chisel and a hammer and use them to knock down the old tile together with the glue base. After that, carefully examine the surface, on which they plan to lay the tile - it should be exceptionally smooth and firm. You need to do this work with the meter level. If there are any irregularities on the surface, they must be leveled with a primer. It should be remembered that the primer can not be applied in a thick layer, otherwise it will not dry out. The thickness of the layer should not be more than two centimeters. If the irregularities are large, then they should be equalized in several steps.

Laying the tiles on the floor is done using crosses to level the corners, so they also need to be purchased in sufficient quantity. The seams between the tiles are filled with grout, which now has a variety of colors. You can buy it under the color of the tiles, but you can reverse the color contrast, so that the tiles with each other do not merge. The floor is well suited for smoothing the gray.

Methods of laying tiles on the floor are different and depend on the material from which the original floor is made. If the floor is concrete, then the ceramic tile can be laid in the following way. The surface of the floor is well moistened, and then a layer of dry cement is simply sown onto it through a sieve. The thickness of the layer should be a millimeter three. After the cement absorbs water and reaches a dough, it can be laid on the tile. With this method, it is not necessary to apply the solution to the tile itself.

The technology of laying tiles on the floor may be different, but it is recommended to begin work from the corner of the room, which is clearly visible, so that non-integral pieces of the tile are not conspicuous.
