Lake Gusinoye, Priozersky district - a great place to relax

Lake Gusinoye is located in the northern part of the Leningrad Region, on the Karelian Isthmus. Nearby, just 28 km to the south-east, is the city of Priozersk. This region is famous for its water bodies. In addition to Goose there are other lakes: Sukhodolskoye and Otradnoye. They are connected together by small channels. On the south side you can see how a stream flows from the lake. It has the original name - Transparent. Also, through a small strait, the Gusinoye Lake (Priozersky District) connects with the large Ladoga.

The lake has an oblong shape resembling the neck of a goose. Because of this feature, the reservoir got its name. The lake stretched from north to south for almost 9 km. But its width varies. The maximum rate is fixed in the central region - 1 km. The bottom of Lake Gusinoy has uneven character, often there are hillocks and ruts. Bottom deposits are also unevenly distributed. In the southern part of the lake the bottom is silted, overgrown with algae. The northern one is stony, there are practically no sections with a flat bottom. Sometimes on this side comes the stilt. Because of the silt bottom sediments, the water acquires a brownish hue. On clear days, the transparency can reach 2 m, and from far away the blue lake Gusinoye seems blue. The depth of the pond is different. The maximum value is 14 m, it occurs mainly in the central part. In the coastal strip, the depths are small - only 1-1.5 m.

The lake feed is mainly due to meltwater during the flood period. At other times of the year, it is fed by ground creeks.

Coastline

The shores of the lake are sandy, they have smooth outlines with smooth lines. They are low, but the descent is always steep. Near the coast, a forest belt passes through the entire reservoir. The thickets are mainly represented by pine, but occasionally there is fir, birch, various shrubs. In the forests live bears, foxes, hares, squirrels, ferrets, sometimes wolves.

Lake Goose rarely overgrown with algae. Sometimes plants meet near the coast. The most common species: rdest, kubyshka, reed and elodea.

Features of the area

Karelian Isthmus is a land area that connects the Scandinavian Peninsula and the mainland part of Eurasia. The relief of this area is interesting. Throughout its area, the isthmus is composed of hills, hillocks that change with valleys of glacial origin. The fact that there has been a glacier on the territory for a long time, says the presence of a large number of lakes. A total of about 400. For these reservoirs is characterized by the similarity of origin - they are all glacial.

Goose belongs to the basin of Lake Ladoga. It does not have islands. Due to the presence of mainly podzolic and podzolic-bog soils in this region, the mineralization of water does not occur. But in Lake Gusin, as in other water bodies of the Karelian Isthmus, the water is oversaturated with iron compounds.

Climate

What is the weather typical for this region? This question is of interest to many tourists who want to come to Lake Gusinoye. The climate of the region is heavily influenced by air masses from the Atlantic. Winter is moderately warm, summer is wet, and autumn is often warmer than spring, many call it velvet. For a cold season thaws are characteristic, when the temperature reaches +5 ... + 7 ° С. The summer period is short, the warmest month is July. The average temperature is +17 ... + 19 ° С. Sometimes the heat can last until the middle of October. Most of the precipitation falls on the summer season.

Undersea world

The lake Gusinoy is rich in various kinds of fauna. This is a favorite place for fishing in the Leningrad region. Although recently there is a tendency to reduce the population of underwater representatives, however, fishermen from the nearest cities gather here all year round. Each of them knows that without a catch from this pond no one will leave. Common species of fish in the lake are perch, ruff, burbot, roach, pike, and scallop. Less often, but still happens, fishermen get pikeperch, trout, crucian carp and ide.

Lake Goose: how to get there?

The nearest town is in the north, a few kilometers from the pond - Priladozhsky. To get to Lake Gusinoy, you should go from St. Petersburg to the north along Priozerskoe Highway. Having reached the village of Sapernoye, it is necessary to turn to the right, and after a few kilometers you will see the lake.

By rail, you can also reach these places. The nearest station, where the train arrives, is Gromovo. But from it to the lake a distance of 28 km, it will be necessary to pass it on foot or, if you are lucky, catch a ride. The best way to get to Goose Lake is by road.

Rest on the lake

Currently, Lake Gusinoye - a popular place with local holidaymakers. The abundance of fish, sandy beaches, shallow coastal areas attract many people here in the summer season. Along the eastern and western margins of the lake are dirt roads, so it will not be difficult to drive up to the pond. The settlements are located in the north, and on the west coast are built boarding houses, recreation centers, cottages, places for camping. On the eastern side a thick pine forest grows. Tourists go there to collect mushrooms and berries.
