Istra - the river, which is considered one of the most picturesque in the suburbs. It flows through three districts: Krasnogorsk, Solnechnogorsk and Istra, then flows into the Moscow River and is its left tributary. Istra, according to the State Water Register of the Russian Federation, is a reservoir of the Oka water basin. On its shores is the eponymous city, as well as numerous holiday homes and sanatoriums. History

The first mention in the annals of Istra refers to the year 1461. This is the spiritual certificate of Grand Duke Basil II of the Dark. For example, Istra-river was chosen by Patriarch Nikon to create the Russian Holy City. In 1656, the construction of a new center of peace, the New Jerusalem, began here. However, then the river changed its name to the Jordan, and all the surrounding villages - to the corresponding biblical. According to the drawings made by the monk Arseny, small copies of the Jerusalem temples were erected here . Istra is also associated with the suppression of the rioters' rebellion in 1698. On the pond was located Iosifo-Volokolamsky monastery, the territory near the village of Buzharovo belonged to the ancestors of the great poet Alexander Pushkin, and in the village of Babkino lived for several years Anton Chekhov.

Recreation and tourism

Fishing

For fishermen, the river Istra is very attractive in all seasons. Summer fishing here begins in early March. Wrap catch roach and scraper. A little later, fishermen come here for more substantial prey: pike, taster and perch. In the summer of Istra reservoir, you can catch asp, yazya, chub and minnows. Fishing on the river is possible in almost all ways: spinning, boat, fishing pole with float, donka, fly fishing and baling. In the area of the village of Petrovo-Dalnee, only bream are caught. Very popular for fishing is the Istra Reservoir. In the summer, its level drops to 4 meters. Along the coast there are many sites that are convenient for fishing. You can catch the same fish as in the river, but sometimes you get an eel. However, it is possible to fish at the reservoir only by vouchers. There are several fish bases here, where you can get permission, as well as rent a boat, rest and sleep.

Sanatoriums and rest houses

Istra - the river, attractive for organized rest. Most sanatoriums and holiday homes here were built in Soviet times. They have not become less popular now. For example, the Istra sanatorium was opened in the middle of the 20th century for workers in the nuclear industry. Here, the most progressive methods of recovery were introduced. A holiday home "Podmoskovnaya Sloboda" was put into operation already in modern Russia. This is the center of family recreation, where they come with children.
