Infertility in women: causes and treatment

Infertility in women is considered a fairly common problem. About its presence it is possible to think, if within a year of regular sexual relations without use of methods of contraception pregnancy does not come. There are many reasons for the inability of a woman to have a child. Fortunately, in most cases, infertility is treatable.

Infertility in women: causes

Before proceeding with treatment, it is necessary to determine the exact cause. Typically, a similar problem is associated with some kind of disruption of the body:

  • Breaking the hormonal background is the most common cause of infertility. The change in the hormonal composition in the female body leads to a violation of the maturation of the egg, the absence of menstruation, etc. The cause of hormonal imbalance can be associated with the work of the gonads, and with the disruption of the functioning of other organs of the endocrine system, including the pituitary gland and the thyroid gland.

  • Infertility in women can be the result of ovarian diseases. For example, quite often the cause is polycystosis, the presence of scars on the ovary membrane, etc.

  • Disturbances in the cervical canal also affect the ability to produce offspring. For example, the consistency and composition of mucus on the cervix can adversely affect sperm status.

  • Infertility in women can occur as a result of damage or complete obstruction of the fallopian tubes. For example, in some cases, inflammatory diseases of the genital organs lead to the formation of spikes in the fallopian tube. Accordingly, the egg can not move into the uterine cavity. In addition, the pipes can be injured as a result of labor or gynecological operations.

  • The syndrome of an unexploded follicle is one common cause of infertility. During normal operation of the body during ovulation, the follicle in the ovary bursts, releasing the egg. But sometimes, for not entirely understandable reasons, during the ovulation period, the follicle does not burst, the egg remains in the ovary.

  • Female infertility can be caused by endometriosis. This disease is associated with the proliferation of the endometrium of the uterus, resulting in a fertilized egg does not attach to the wall of the uterus.

  • It is worth noting that any failure of the uterus can lead to the inability to bear the child, which in one way or another affect its structure and functioning.

  • In some cases, infertility appears for psychosexual reasons.

  • Sometimes there is a so-called congenital infertility in women, which is associated with congenital anatomical or physiological abnormalities of the reproductive system. Fortunately, these cases are very rare.

In any case, the problem of infertility should immediately seek help from a specialist.

How to treat infertility in women?

To begin with, the doctor must conduct a complete diagnosis. It is worth noting that the inability to have children can depend on the individual characteristics of both the female and the male body. Therefore, both partners must pass the survey.

As for the methods of treatment, their choice directly depends on the cause. You need to treat the root cause, be it hormonal disorders, early menopause or diseases of the reproductive system. Sometimes for successful fertilization, it is enough to take hormonal medications. In other cases, surgical intervention is necessary. Often the only way out is the IVF procedure (in vitro fertilization).

There are even special sanatoriums for the treatment of infertility, where women are offered qualified help, complete diagnostics and individually selected treatment.
