How to make a sandblaster yourself

Typically, sandblasting machines are used in several cases. The first involves processing parts to create a clean surface for further coating. The second - involves the processing of parts to separate them from various inclusions or fumes. The most interesting is the third case of using such a device as a sandblaster. He assumes that this device will be used as an artistic tool.

That's why when you make it, you need to consider all the features of its use. Although there are also such models that can be used in all the proposed cases. They differ in the mobile design of the nozzle and the ability to move it to a user-friendly position. Therefore, this design is called portable.

To make a sandblasting machine with your own hands, you should initially purchase a compressor unit. For these purposes, an ordinary construction compressor with a receiver can be used. It is desirable that it be small in size to be able to easily carry it.

It will also require a sand container that can be easily moved during operation. A conventional homemade sandblaster can use a small amount of sand, so a plastic bottle or a used extinguisher can come up as such a container. When using such a container, it is recommended to hang it with the outlet hole downwards during the work.

Next, you need a standard factory pneumatic gun or spray gun. They make the sandblasting machine easy to use and portable. It is necessary to connect the hose from the compressor to the spray gun, and mount an ordinary water pipe tee on the outlet nozzle. It is ideally suited to a standard pneumatic gun, and when mounting on a spray gun, you will have to use an adapter.

On the opposite outlet of the tee, standard ceramic nozzles should be installed. In domestic conditions, they are put on a jewelry or dental sandblaster, and they can be purchased at the appropriate store. It is worth noting that nozzles made of a different material are not suitable for this purpose, because for several minutes of use they expand the outlet, which reduces pressure.

To the third hole of the tee, mounted on the sandblasting apparatus, a container with sand is attached. And, if it is a plastic bottle, then it can be fastened directly to the tee, and if the fire extinguisher or another large capacity, then it is connected with a hose.

After joining all the parts, the sandblasting machine will be ready. As the sand used various fractions of electrocorundum or sifted construction sand.

All work with the sandblaster should be carried out in goggles and using a respirator. This will protect the eyes from the ingress of sand, and the lungs from fine dust.
