How does hemorrhagic neonatal disease manifest itself?

Hemorrhagic neonatal disease is a pathology characterized by the appearance of spontaneous bleeding and is caused by the insufficiency or lack of certain elements of blood coagulation. This disease is manifested, as a rule, from the second to the fifth birthday of the child.

Causes

Hemorrhagic neonatal disease has two types: primary and secondary. In the first case, the cause of bleeding is an insufficient amount of vitamin K in the blood of a person. It is he who is considered to be "chiefly responsible" for the process of its curtailment. The second form of the disease occurs in premature or very weak children. In this case, in addition to lack of vitamin K, the baby's liver is weak.

According to many doctors, hemorrhagic disease of newborns can directly be associated with the adoption of certain medications pregnant, which adversely affected the child's liver. These drugs include popular aspirin, various antibiotics, anticonvulsants and some soothing.

Symptoms

Hemorrhagic disease of newborns is manifested by the following symptoms:

  • Blood from the nose;
  • Bleeding from the digestive tract;
  • Vomiting with bloody discharge;
  • Bleeding of the navel;
  • The appearance of hematomas of various types;
  • Hemorrhage of internal organs (in the adrenal gland, liver, etc.).

How does this disease come about?

The diagnosis is based on visible clinical data, analysis results and hematological studies. The latter include:

  • Counting platelets;
  • Identification of combined activity of II and VI factors;
  • A blood smear;
  • Performance of a special thrombotest;
  • The amount of hemoglobin in the blood.

Hemorrhagic neonatal disease : late form

In some cases, this pathology can occur only after 2-3 weeks after the appearance of the baby. This is often the case for newborns who are breastfeeding and who have problems with metabolic disorders.

Treatment of this pathology

Therapy of this disease is as follows:

  • The baby needs to do intramuscular injection of the solution of vicasol (1%) for 3 days - approximately 0.3-0.5 ml 2 times a day;
  • Taking medications that help strengthen the blood vessels - ascorbic acid, rutin, calcium chloride;
  • With heavy bleeding, transfusion of blood, plasma or a special preparation is prescribed;
  • Taking substitutive and symptomatic means;
  • Oxygen therapy.

Prevention of this disease

To prevent the development of hemorrhagic disease, it is absolutely necessary for all women to prescribe vitamin K. during childbirth. If labor is difficult, then add the dose 12 hours after the onset of labor. The newborn also needs to prescribe this vitamin, without waiting for signs of the disease.

Viral hemorrhagic disease

This is one of the types of pneumonia. This type of disease is typical for rabbits.
