Why you need a component cable

The matrix of the video camera can perceive three basic colors: blue, green and red. Other colors of the spectrum are obtained by mixing these three basic colors . This principle is called RGB. Camcorders generate an image in this format, and then this signal is played back by a TV or computer monitor. By changing the intensity of the three main colors, you can create any shade of the spectrum, and as a result, natural images appear on the screen.

What is bandwidth?

The question arises: "In what kind of video transmission?" To do this, you can directly use the RGB format, but it takes up a very wide frequency band. Therefore, most often such a signal is translated into a compact format, which can be transmitted via a component cable. This format is built from three signals. The first is called the brightness pulse, in addition, it is able to carry black and white information, which is contained in the original RGB. The second and third signals are called color-difference signals. They determine the proportion of red and blue colors in the overall brightness. Mathematically, the color difference impulses are derived from the RGB signal. The component cable does not transmit green light. It is calculated by the values of the other signals, because the brightness values of blue and red are known. Consequently, the remainder is green. Component cable when transmitting a video signal compresses the size of the frequency band by one-third of the original one.

Where is the component video format used?

This encoding is used when transmitting an image, known as a DVD standard. Almost all DVD players have a video output, to which a three-wire component cable is connected, which provides clean and rich colors, as well as a clear image. Most often, these players have several different type of video outputs. However, the use of such interfaces will lead to the fact that high-quality component video will be compressed and transmitted in the worst standard (for example, in the composite) to your monitor. Therefore, if your player and TV are capable of working in component video mode, then it is better to use this standard. Typically, this cord consists of three RCA connectors, which are indicated by red, green and blue colors (Y, BY, RY). If the TV and monitor have the same type of connectors, then it is important to observe the color markings. Most often, the receiving devices receive a component signal via the VGA port. This interface is equipped with a 15-pin D-sub connector. Such a cord is produced by all manufacturers.

Component cable PS2 / PS3

This cord is used to connect to a PlayStation2 and PlayStation3 TV. PS3- and PS2-component cable supports the output of a picture, whose resolution is 576 p when you connect a PlayStation2 device. And when you connect the PlayStation3 system, the resolution is higher - up to 1080 r. This component cable is compatible with most TVs that support the input connector of this standard. In addition, the said cord has two connectors for direct connection to the audio amplifier of the audio channel. The component cable is considered one of the best interfaces for connecting the gaming system to the TV and inferior only to the HDMI standard.
