Growing pepper in the greenhouse

Peppers in horticulture grow only two kinds: sweet, it is also called Bulgarian, and bitter. Sweet peppers, like tomatoes and potatoes, belong to the family of Solanaceae. Usually large fruits are collected still green, but over time they blush.

Pepper is a plant that is thermophilic. For normal growth, pepper needs not only a higher air temperature, but also increased humidity, so this culture is better to grow in a greenhouse. Growing pepper in a greenhouse is possible with other crops, for example, cucumbers.

In open ground conditions, pepper grows in areas with mild climate and in a protected area from the wind. For growing pepper in less favorable conditions, greenhouses with high walls or film tunnels are used. Growing pepper in a greenhouse is possible in the soil, in film bags filled with nutrient mixture or in pots.

Growing pepper in the greenhouse begins with the preparation of the soil. It should be fertilized every year, organic and mineral fertilizers should be applied. After applying fertilizers, the grove is dugly dug, watered and closed for several days with a film. This is done so that the fertilizer is absorbed as best as possible.

Pepper in the greenhouse in the middle belt is planted in mid-May. On the garden, two rows of holes are made in thirty centimeters. The depth of the holes is 10-15 centimeters. If you plant peppers in this way, the peppers will support each other, and they will not have to be tied up. At the bottom of the hole you need to put one handful of ash and a third of a tea spoon of superphosphate. You can add a handful of humus if there is not enough fertilizer in the ground. All components must be mixed well with the soil and watered with magnetized water or a weak solution of potassium permanganate at a rate of one and a half liters per well.

Seedlings of pepper two hours before landing in the greenhouse watered. Transplant plants should be done in the evening, gently taking them along with a clod of earth, so that the roots are not damaged. After transplanting, the soil around the plant needs to be squeezed, and then poured and covered with humus or peat. You can use for this purpose a black film, or a nonwoven material.

Growing sweet pepper in a greenhouse occurs with a certain temperature regime, that is, the daytime temperature should be 25-28 degrees, at night - 14-16. If the temperature in the greenhouse is lower than 15 degrees, the growth of plants will stop and the flowers will fall off. Therefore, when cooling, plants can be covered with a film or a nonwoven material, laying it directly on the plants. But if the temperature is above 45 degrees, the plants will die.

Adjust the temperature in the greenhouse by ventilating, opening the doors and transoms only on one side to avoid draft. At night, the greenhouse must always be closed.

Growing pepper at home is not difficult, you just need to properly form a bush. It is easier to take care of peppers than for cucumbers or tomatoes - it is not tied or pasynkuyut. Shoots and leaves that are below the place where the main stem branches - are removed. Keep only two or three strongest stems, the rest - to pinch. As the plant grows, one more stem should be left with each subsequent branching. At the end of the season, the tops are pinched. Peppers should be watered regularly, as the flowers begin to fall off from lack, and the fruits - to grow smaller.

If the greenhouse is heated - pepper, preferably of tall sorts, is planted in the greenhouse by seeds no later than March 1, and if the hothouse is not heated, then in mid-May. Growing pepper in the greenhouse will allow for an earlier and amicable harvest already in July, while in the open ground only in August-September.

Ripe peppers are removed from plants as needed. If, when growing peppers in a greenhouse, the green fruits remain on the plants for another week or two, they will turn red.
