Growing lemon tree at home

Growing a lemon tree in an apartment is not easy, but fascinating. Proper care and patience will help to grow from a seed or cut a beautiful perennial tree with fragrant fruits. Homemade lemons in no way inferior to those who grew up on freedom. They have as many valuable substances, vitamins and minerals, taste and aroma. For those who are interested in how to grow a lemon tree at home, you should know that there are two ways of breeding: with the help of seeds and cuttings.

According to the flower growers, from the stone of the lemon bought in the store, you can get a full-fledged tree, however, this will take several years. This plant looks neat, branchy, but the first flowering and the appearance of the fruit will have to wait 6-8 years. The cultivation of lemon tree from the bones begins in January. For this, the seeds are sown in the soil to a depth of 1 cm. The soil should be fertile, it is better to use a special composition for the lemon. The soil is moistened and covered with glass, periodically watered and ventilated, pushing aside the protection.

Approximately one month later, shoots should appear. They should be left to choose the largest and most viable. Further grown plants are transplanted into cups. Within the first year, shoots will grow up, and they will be from 3 real leaves. For the bushes to have a neat crown, they are formed by cutting shoots 4 and 5 of the order of branching. The main care consists in regular spraying, top dressing, pruning and refreshing in winter.

For a symmetrical development of the crown, the lemon needs to be turned to the light by different sides. Particular attention should be paid to watering. For those who do not know how to water a lemon tree, you should pay attention to the acidity of the water. Water for irrigation should not be alkaline, so often use boiled water or acidify it with preparations of citric, nitric, phosphoric acid. You can also use the infusion of horse peat, which is sold in any store for gardeners. You need to water with warm water, moistening with an earthen lump, and not pouring water into the pan.

At any time of the year, domestic citrus fruits are important not only for watering, but also spraying, as well as a warm shower. Dry air is fatal for a lemon tree. During the heating season, it is worth removing the pot away from the batteries or periodically closing the heating radiators with a damp cloth. Well, if next to the pot is the ability to install a container of water. In addition, wide leaves should be washed periodically or wiped with a wet cloth - this will keep the leaves clean and provide deeper breathing to the tree. Spraying of dusty plants is unacceptable, since the distribution of pathogenic bacteria and fungi is possible.

Cultivation of lemon tree from the handle will slightly speed up the process. The stalk can be taken from an adult, well-developed plant. For rooting it is planted in the ground in February-March and covered with a glass jar. You can remove such a mini-hide after the cutting is actively moving into growth.

Moisture, light and heat are the main conditions that will allow you to grow a lemon in your home.
