Unusual shrubs: maple hinnal

The maple of the Hinnal, whose photo is below, is a large shrub which can also grow in the form of a small tree. If the plant is multi-stem, the crown is rather wide and hipped, and in the case where the trunk is only one, it is wide-conical. This shrub is quite moderate growth (the annual increase is an average of about 30 centimeters).

The maple of the hinnal begins to bloom immediately after the leaves are blooming. The latter have a three-blade shape and reach eight centimeters in length. In the autumn season, their color turns yellow-orange and can change up to a fiery red. Everything depends on the degree of clarification. Fluffy flowers develop on multiflorous dense tufts and have a yellowish tinge. The fruits of the plant are green lionfishes up to three centimeters in length, which are distinguished by a bright red blush in the sun.

The hinnal can be used in landscape design both in single plantings and in decorative groups. The native land of the plant is the Far Eastern region, where it became cultural in the middle of the nineteenth century. The diameter of the crown of the bush is an average of five meters, although this figure can sometimes reach a mark of seven meters. The life of this variety of maple is about one hundred years. There are cases when individual copies lived for 250 years.

Among the advantages of a plant such as the maple hinnal, it should be noted its high lightfastness, resistance to drought, frost resistance. During the entire period of its vegetation, it is decorative. This maple attracts attention not only by the shape of the crown, but also by fruits and foliage. He is most beautiful in the autumn time.

For a plant like a maple ginnal, care is not very difficult. The maple is undemanding to the soil. Its ideal variant is a mixture, which includes humus, turf and sand (3: 2: 1). Not necessarily, but it is also recommended to add about 150 grams of mineral fertilizer (nitroammophoski) to the planting pit. In the event that the groundwater is closely located, drainage should be created. This is usually done at the expense of a 20-centimeter layer of crushed stone. The plant is best developed in open areas.

Despite the drought resistance of this maple, in the dry season it should be watered once a week at the rate of 20 liters of water per plant. With the normal amount of precipitation, the same amount of moisture is required, only once a month. After landing, mulching by land or peat is performed. Loosening should be regular, but shallow. Dry and sick branches should be permanently removed.

In frosty winters, if there is a lack of snow cover, young plants near the root neck should be sheltered. Annual shoots should be removed on condition of frostbite. Crown thanks to new lignified shoots will quickly recover. It should be noted that the winter hardiness of the bush increases with its age. Maple Hinnal can be exposed to such diseases as black spot and powdery mildew. Its main enemies are pests such as mealy moth, whitefly and leaf weevil.
