Extracurricular event: what is it for?

The primary goal of the school is to provide an average level of education. Whichever the training program is, the student is required to obtain basic knowledge of the subjects defined by the state. But the main goal of education is the education of a harmonious member of society. Therefore, in addition to teaching, the school also performs educational and developmental functions. Experienced teachers know that achieving this goal is impossible without combining the educational process with the program of extra-curricular activities.

Extra-curricular activities have a number of features. It is conducted in a more free form than the lesson. Outside the lesson, children can show more creative activity and develop thinking, learn communication skills in the team and group work. Depending on the goals and tasks set, the teacher chooses the form in which the extra-curricular activity is held, and determines its content. It can be a quiz, KVN, sports and intellectual contests, costume production, tea drinking. The form of conducting extra-curricular activities provides great opportunities for attracting parents and other adults, for contact between schoolchildren of different ages. Such an occupation can be spent on vacations, in nature, on excursions.

A competently organized extracurricular event becomes for schoolchildren not an additional burden, but a welcome holiday, an opportunity to prove oneself. Such training strengthens the team, helps to form the schoolchildren's leadership qualities and ability to communicate. A special emotional state that arises in schoolchildren in such occupations significantly increases the effectiveness of their activities and improves the assimilation of knowledge. Therefore, for example, to consolidate particularly complex grammar rules, it makes sense to organize extracurricular activities in the Russian language. Physics, chemistry, mathematics, history, geography, biology - any subject will seem easy and interesting for students with the correct combination of curriculum and extracurricular activities.

Themes of additional classes do not always have to be directly related to training. They can be devoted to studying the history of their city, a healthy lifestyle, observance of traffic rules. Often, an extra-curricular event for vocational guidance plays a significant role in the choice of high school students of a particular profession. Both teachers and parents of schoolchildren should be mindful of the strength of the educational impact of extracurricular activities and pay them no less attention than traditional lessons.
