How to compile a basic summary: step by step instruction

A modern training system assumes the independent processing of a large amount of material. In this regard, students, and schoolchildren, it is necessary to compile not only lectures, but also textbooks, monographs and articles. The correct approach to drawing up a summary helps not only to acquire knowledge, but to save time for writing it. The most effective now is the reference note.

Definition

The abstract is a short entry or an account of some information. The most frequent summaries of lectures, books or articles. The presentation of information in this form is a systematic, logically connected record of the source material.

The basic summary was developed in the 1980s by VF Shatalov, a teacher of physics and mathematics. Since then, this method has become widespread and is used in studying not only the exact, but also the humanities.

The basic definition reads: the reference note is a certain system of reference signals, which includes elements such as drawings, drawings, cryptograms, and contain the basic information necessary for memorization.

Basic requirements for compiling

When composing a reference note, the following requirements must be observed:

  1. Observe the completeness of the presentation of information. Do not throw out important, keywords.
  2. Present the data succinctly and consistently.
  3. Structuring records. The ease with which information is perceived depends on how simple and understandable the structure is.
  4. Deliver accents through various design methods - frames, fonts, colors, graphs and charts.
  5. Apply abbreviations and symbols when writing. It is necessary to use the generally accepted abbreviations and notations, the most difficult to make out on the fields with decoding.

Drafting plan

We offer the most simple instruction. It can also be used to compile abstracts of any kind and type, excluding memory cards:

  1. Write the name of the topic on which the abstract is drawn.
  2. Read the material and select the main one.
  3. Define keywords and concepts that reflect the essence of the topic. Choose subtopics.
  4. Select the main symbols used to write this summary.
  5. Outline the draft version of the abstract. Sometimes it's enough to sketch out the scheme, indicating on it the structure of the future plan.
  6. Think about the easiest way to organize data - in the form of flowcharts, plan, diagrams.
  7. Divide the material into blocks and decorate it according to the methods chosen by you.
  8. Make out the resulting abstract with the help of colored markers and pens, emphasize the main thing, put question marks or exclamations near controversial or important moments.
  9. Carry out the main abbreviations and their decoding on the fields. If necessary, identify issues that require further study.

Benefits

This method excludes the mechanical recording of the material, without its preliminary processing. If, in the usual outline, a student can simply rewrite an article or paragraph, determining in advance how much to oversee and which to skip, the compilation of a supporting summary presupposes the preliminary processing of the material.

The part of the time that the student would have spent writing a synopsis is released. This is especially true in the event that the compilation of notes is given directly at the lecture. The teacher can spend the remaining time after a summary of the time for a detailed explanation of the material.

Quickness in repetition of the abstract. On average, one reference note can be read in five minutes. What can I say in the situation when you need to prepare for the exam, which covers 10 to 15 topics. In this case, the student will need only an hour and a half to repeat all the topics, not a couple of nights.

Students learn to analyze the acquired knowledge, highlight the main thing and compress the text. The preparation of reference notes can be useful in the future, when writing course, diploma and master's, research papers.

Use by teachers

Not only students, but also teachers, teachers can use abstracts in class. Different types of reference notes can greatly simplify the flow of material. For example, a teacher or a lecturer can bring to the lesson a pre-made summary on the topic under study and distribute one copy to the student.

Further, in the course of examining the topic, students follow the presentation of the material on the abstract and make their notes on the already prepared plan. For example, note important points, put question marks in those places that the lecturer, perhaps, will leave for self-study.

At the end of the lesson, the processed summary remains with the student and can be applied in the future in preparation for practical and seminary studies, exams, exams.

conclusions

Using the reference note helps you to master the material much faster, prepare for the exam or the control. The compilation of reference notes also greatly simplifies the processing of material, teaches students to structure the material, and to show creativity in teaching.

Teachers can also use them for training. This will help reduce the time needed to write a lecture, deepen the knowledge of students on a particular topic.
