Effect of alcohol on sex cells and reproduction

Ethyl alcohol has a destructive effect not only on the human sex cells, but also on the sex glands themselves. Problems with reproduction in men and women who consume alcohol, largely due to the peculiarities of the patterns of formation of sexual cells. It is easier to carry alcohol intoxication male sex cells, the genetic code of which, although damaged by the influence of ethyl alcohol, but they are formed in a man throughout his life. Usually the process of complete replacement of spermatozoa with new ones takes up to three months.

However, the main danger of alcohol for a man is not a change in the structure of his sex cells, but in the defeat of the sex glands. These organs have a specific blood supply system, similar to that in the brain, because of which alcohol dissolved in the blood can stay there for a long time. Because of this, there is a degeneration of sperm precursors and cells that are responsible for the secretion of hormones (testosterone). Thus, a man who has long experienced alcohol intoxication has a high probability that his sex cells will be produced immediately with certain deviations. In addition, because of the lack of a male hormone, his behavior will change significantly, pathologies of the reproductive system will appear, including impotence.

It would seem that it can be worse than the effects of alcoholism for the male body? But women have problems associated with alcohol damage to sex cells and glands, which is much worse, not taking into account the fact that female alcoholism develops much faster and is considered incurable. The fact that female sex cells (eggs) are not formed during life, as in men, and already at the time of birth, "stored" until full maturation and exit into the uterus (ovulation). Because of this, even single methods of alcohol can (albeit insignificantly) increase the risk of an unhealthy child. But it is unlikely that there will be a woman who wants to assess this probability on her (even if it does not exceed one percent). If the lady systematically consumes alcohol, then this probability increases many times.

The effect of alcohol on the female reproductive and endocrine system is similar to that described for the male body. The only difference is that in women, the number of female hormones in the blood decreases with increasing testosterone concentration, which is normally secreted in women. Because of this, its appearance changes, masculinization (loss of female features) occurs and behavior changes. Including, the behavior of the woman in relation to the child also changes, many instincts connected with care of posterity are lost.

In addition, the reproductive system of a drinking woman is constantly exposed to the destructive power of alcohol, which increases the likelihood of infertility, and menopause occurs 15 years earlier in these women than in healthy women.

As for the children born to drinking parents, then most often they have some developmental defects, sometimes reaching the ugliness. The most frequent is the alcoholic fetus syndrome, which manifests a delay in the mental and physical development of the child.
