Diathermocoagulation of the cervix: the essence and consequences of the method

To date, erosion on the cervix is one of the most common diseases of the sexual sphere of a woman. It is characterized by the appearance of a sore pale pink color. In most cases, diathermocoagulation of the cervix is performed to treat this pathology.

Method Action

Such intervention is almost the oldest and most reliable way of treating erosion. It is based on the use of a high-frequency electric current formed between two electrodes. The end of the first has the shape of a ball and is inserted into the vagina. The second electrode is placed under the waist of the patient. After their inclusion, a large amount of heat is generated, which leads to melting of the affected areas. The whole procedure is carried out in less than 30 minutes, for which the supply of electric current (its power is 0.1-0.2 A) is made many times for 10-12 seconds. The effectiveness of the method is more than 75%. Complete recovery of the female body occurs in 7-10 weeks.

Effects

Diathermocoagulation of the cervix can cause a lot of complications. For example, after exposure to an electric current, scar tissue remains on the damaged tissues, because of which the uterine canal becomes narrower. This can lead to its rupture during childbirth. Therefore, diathermocoagulation of cervical erosion is used mainly in women giving birth.

Also, this procedure can lead to infertility and fertility, since there is a high risk of infection of the cervical canal. If the wound surface is very extensive, then a large number of vessels are damaged, which can lead to heavy bleeding. Another "popular" consequence of this operation is endometriosis.

After the procedure

Because of the large number of negative consequences and complications after diathermocoagulation, a woman needs to be observed at the gynecologist for some time. For example, in the first month she should visit him 2 times a week. Then, approximately every 2 months throughout the year. She is also recommended to wait with sexual relations and lifting weights. In most cases, local treatment of the wound is given with antibacterial ointments that promote faster healing and maintenance of sterility.

Within a month a woman can have a clear or an excreted blood discharge. There may also be pain in the lower back and general weakness of the whole body.

Contraindications

Diathermocoagulation of the cervix has the following contraindications:

  1. Pregnancy.
  2. Childbirth in recent times.
  3. Inflammatory processes in the vagina or cervix.
  4. The presence of malignant tumors of the uterus.

Diathermocoagulation of the cervix: reviews

Women who have experienced the cauterization of erosion, note that this method of getting rid of the disease is very painful. Many compare these painful sensations with labor contractions and say that in the place where the electrode touches, heat is felt. At the same time, some of them needed a repeat procedure.
