Gaps at delivery

Childbirth. How much effort the woman takes to have her baby born. In fact, as a result of this process, a young mother may have ruptures of the perineum, cervix and vaginal walls. It is worth noting that such injuries are most common for women who first give birth after thirty-two years. However, in this case everything depends on the mood of the woman in childbirth, the help of qualified employees and the course of labor.

Gaps during childbirth can be dangerous for the life of the child and mother. Such injuries include, for example, rupture of the uterus. As a result of such damage, urgent hospitalization and a cesarean section are required . If we talk about external ruptures, then they heal quickly enough, in such a situation, it is only necessary to apply a few stitches. As for the rupture of the uterus, in such a situation doctors are trying to save both the mother and the baby. However, most often the baby can not survive.

All the breaks of the so-called perineum specialists are divided into two groups. This is external and internal damage. The first group includes ruptures of the lower third of the vagina and directly of the perineum. To internal it is possible to carry ruptures of a neck of a uterus at sorts.

Virtually every fifth woman in labor gets any damage to her crotch during childbirth. They are subject to all women, regardless of the number of births and ages. The reasons for this development are too high a perineum, poor stretchability, a large child, a pelvic presentation of the baby, swelling and inflammation in the birth canal, prolonged labor and much more.

Most often, damage occurs at a time when the baby's head passes through the birth canal. In addition, it is at this point in time that an experienced obstetrician-gynecologist can easily determine the likelihood of damage purely visually. As a result of strong tension, the skin of the so-called perineum becomes pale and shiny. In such a situation, it is possible that specialists will decide to produce an episiotomy or perineotomy. This means that the woman will be cut into the crotch at the tension point, since such damage is much easier to sew, and it heals faster than an ordinary rupture. The scar will hardly remain, or it will be very smooth.

Perineotomy is a small incision from the anus to the vagina. If an episiotomy is made, the incision is made slightly away from the midline. It is much safer than perineotomy. The fact is that as a result of such an operation, the incision simply can continue during the delivery to the anus. As for the anatomy of this area, it is much easier to sew up damage of this nature.

Gaps at delivery can sometimes be classified in three degrees. The first is accompanied by small damages of the posterior wall of the lips of the vagina and the mucous membrane. The second degree is presence of ruptures of muscles of a perineum and a vagina. As for the third degree, here the ruptures during childbirth touch both the walls of the rectum and anus.

As soon as the baby is born, the gaps are detected by the obstetrician-gynecologist, since they are always accompanied by some bleeding. They put on the so-called catgut sutures. The doctor will remove the stitches on the fifth day, when the mother and the child will prepare for discharge.

It is important to properly suture the resulting rupture, as otherwise the probability of hematoma formation is high. If the wound is not sutured, a large and coarse scar is formed in its place. He will interfere with a woman in the conduct of a sexual life with a partner in the future, deliver a lot of discomfort and so on. Ladies who received similar injuries as a result of the first birth, are prone to such gaps in the future.

The doctor can make an emergency decision about the perineal incision, even if the threat of a rupture is absent. The reasons for this behavior can serve as pelvic presentation, premature birth, vacuum extraction of the fetus and much more.

Gaps at delivery are not a cause for concern. The main thing is to properly care for some time beyond the area of damage, handle it with special solutions.
