A well-decorated festive cake can rightfully be called a real work of art. But to create such a masterpiece is a painstaking and delicate work. Bake cakes and prepare a cream - this is just the beginning. The most time-consuming part of this work is decoration. But, you see, this process is very entertaining and creative. Where, no matter how, you can show your imagination and surprise guests with an unusual culinary masterpiece.

Ornaments for cakes can be made by yourself or purchased ready-made, the benefit of their choice for today is simply huge: it's multicolored coconut shavings, sugar colored beads of any size, ornaments from colored sweet paper, figurines from marzipan and mastic and much more.

Begin the decoration from the application on the cakes of the "basis" - the glaze. But before proceeding directly to the process of applying it, you need to wait until the freshly baked cakes cool down, otherwise decorations can begin to "melt" from the heat. The most affordable and easy to use at home glaze is chocolate. To make it, simply melt the usual chocolate bar on a water bath and cover it with the surface of the cake. In the same way, you can cast any figures using special confectionery molds. Chocolate can be used any - both white and black, as well as combine them for a variety of designs.

In the pastry shops you can also buy ready-made multicolored glaze. It is a soft and plastic material that can be rolled like plasticine, and then gently cover the entire cake. The taste is neutral and therefore it is suitable for absolutely any type of cake. And simply, and very beautifully - decorated in this way, the cake is almost indistinguishable from that produced in the confectionery.

Traditional decoration of cakes is a cream. What cake does without it? It gives soft airiness to the shapes and elegantly hides all the shortcomings of the lower layer. When applying the cream, do not hurry, gently and gently placing it layer by layer on the surface of the cake. Using a pastry syringe or a usual cellophane bag with a small hole made in it, you can create any patterns: roses, hearts, various figures, make any inscriptions. Do not forget to apply a layer of cream on the side surfaces of the cake, as well as to decorate them you can sprinkle with coconut chips or almond flakes.

Of course, the decoration of cakes should be consistent in the traditions and stylistics of the celebrated holiday, be it a birthday, anniversary, wedding or any other solemn event. And in each case there are small nuances that need to be considered.

The best decoration of children's cakes is bright figures from marzipan or caramel, sweet colored beads, asterisks, ringlets, a sprinkle of coconut shavings. Here the rule is one - the more flowers, the more enthusiasm for children. Also the kid will be pleased with colorful figures from edible paper or foil: butterflies, asterisks, flowers - it's all possible to buy in almost any culinary store. If you are good at sculpting, you can make your own favorite cartoon characters from a colorful fondant. Do not decorate the cake with inedible figurines, especially if the children are still small - they can try to swallow them. And do not forget about the small candy candles - according to the number of years performed by a little birthday!

The decoration of cakes for the occasion of the jubilee, as a rule, is performed in a not very bright, but slightly pompous style. If the birthday girl is a beautiful lady, then the festive cake must be decorated with roses from cream, mastic or marzipan. To arrange them best on the sides, so that they do not close the main decoration - numbers and a congratulatory inscription. For a man's birthday, a celebratory treat is held in stricter colors, without bright colored elements. Make a cake cream pattern, small roses of white or cream colors. And, of course, the symbol of the celebration is a candle, a quantity equal to the age of the birthday boy, who, according to tradition, before blowing out the cake, must blow out and make a wish.

No wedding, whether it is a holiday in a narrow family circle or a magnificent pompous ceremony, does not do without a traditional cake. And here, too, has its own nuances, which should not be forgotten. Decoration of cakes for a wedding, as a rule, withstand in gentle light colors: white, cream, pink. Traditionally, these are flowers, figurines of pigeons, angels, decorative podsypki of hearts. The final solemn note for the cake will be the figures of the bride and groom, two crossed rings or two white swans, placed at the very top. They are sold in a wide range and for every taste - from classical romantic to depicting some comic scene. If you chose edible figures, then by tradition they should be eaten by the newlyweds themselves with the applause of all the guests of the wedding.
