Pridneprovskaya State Academy of Construction and Architecture (PGAASA) is located in Dnepropetrovsk. They train specialists in the construction and economic sphere. The Architecture and Construction Academy is the region's leader in training personnel in architecture, industrial and civil construction.

From technical courses to technical school

The history of the construction and architecture academy in Dnepropetrovsk is conducted with the "Ekaterinoslav technical courses of V. Kh. Korobochkin", which were founded in 1910 and expanded in 1912 by the electromechanical and construction department. By 1915, 250 students with a term of study of 3,5 years (7 semesters) were studying there.

In 1917 the Provisional Government of Russia renamed the courses "The First Polytechnic Courses", which were planned to be transferred to Voronezh. However, already in 1918, the courses were renamed the "Technical Institute". In 1921, the future construction academy (Dnepropetrovsk) received a second birth: highly specialized courses were reorganized into the 1st Ekaterinoslav Technical School. In the last year of the courses there were about 40 students.

Dnepropetrovsk Building Institute

23.03.30 The construction technical school was reorganized into the Dnepropetrovsk Construction Institute with the change in the form of training from evening to day. The site of the former Holy Cross Cathedral for the construction of the building of the Institute in the quarter along Chernyshevsky Street, Zhukovsky, Patorzhinsky and Clara Zetkin was selected as the city. The remains of the church building with a facade on Patorzhinsky Street have been refurbished, now there is a building academy. Dnepropetrovsk replenished with a new university, which prepares specialists in town planning.

Since 1935 the institute is officially called Dnipropetrovsk Engineering and Construction Institute (DISI). With the outbreak of hostilities with German fascist troops, students were drafted into the army. The institute resumed its work on November 1, 1943. The status of the Academy was conferred in 1994.

Goals and objectives

For any state it is important to train professional builders, architects, managers, business executives for erecting residential buildings, building roads, industrial facilities. In central Ukraine, the basis for training these specialists is the Dnieper Construction Academy, Dnepropetrovsk.

Budget seats for admission are distributed according to the competition and have a strictly limited amount, depending on the specialty. Certain advantages are enjoyed by applicants who have concluded contracts with future employers. If you could not stand an independent examination test, you can study on a commercial basis.

Now the Academy trains about 6000 students. They are taught by 688 teachers, including 52 doctors of science. At the academy there are nine scientific schools, headed by famous scientists. Students are taught in-depth study of foreign languages with an internship in many European countries. In the academy, the department for intensive study of foreign languages was opened. On the fourth and fifth courses, having mastered one or two foreign languages in perfection, continue our education in parallel in our academy and in the universities of France, Germany, Switzerland.

Building Academy (Dnepropetrovsk): faculties

In PGAAS, specialists are trained in six faculties in 19 specialties:

• Architectural.
• Economic.
• Industrial and civil construction (ASG).
• Mechanical.
• Building.
• Technologies of life support and ecology.

Also 2 faculties have the status of institutes: continuous professional education and distance learning.

Achievements

The Construction Academy (Dnepropetrovsk) is a major educational and scientific center of the region. Traditionally, almost 1500 students actively cooperated with teachers and academics at the Academy in the implementation of scientific developments, the preparation of publications and reports at seminars and conferences, and in inventive activities.

So, in 2014, in co-authorship with students, 186 scientific articles, theses of reports, 11 patents of Ukraine were published. 46 students took part in the second round of the All-Ukrainian Olympiads, seven of them became winners received diplomas of I, II and III degrees in personal and team competitions. 36 students participated in All-Ukrainian and international competitions for student research, 10 of them became winners.

In addition to carrying out fundamental research, carrying out applied developments, employees of all 39 departments carry out scientific activities according to the cathedral thematic plans.

Financing of scientific projects

In 2014, budget funding in the implementation of basic research has increased to 500,000 UAH. Against 290100 UAH. In 2013 and is aimed at developing the theoretical basis for obtaining nanostructured elements and studying their effect on the properties of building steels.

The amount of financing for applied research for 2014 amounted to UAH 1.5 million. (In 2013 - 870000 UAH). Financing of the complex applied research concerning development of scientific bases of creation in Ukraine of high-technology socioeco-complexes was carried out.

Sport and leisure

Close attention Prydneprovskaya Academy (Dnepropetrovsk) pays full attention to the development of its students. Each student in the PGAASA can find an occupation to his liking. There is an opportunity to take part in olympiads, conferences, prepare reports for the meeting of the student scientific council. Or to enroll in the literary studio "Lira", where the expression of his "I" in poetry or prose is encouraged. For sports fans there is a swimming pool, a spacious sports hall. In the walls of the Academy champions and prizewinners of the championships of Ukraine, Europe and the world were brought up.

Participation of students in numerous events of amateur performances is welcomed. You can sing and dance at freshmen's balls, you can prepare the original number for the festival "Student Spring". And students of the architectural faculty can do design on a computer or invent and develop a new project for building a center in Dnepropetrovsk or some European city, having studied its history, customs and traditions.
