Compote from watermelon - a sip of summer in the winter

Watermelon is, without a doubt, the most delicious summer treat. If apples, for example, we can eat almost all the year round, and even strawberries can be easily bought in a supermarket at any time, then this berry appears in our diet at the height of summer and leaves it when autumn fully comes into its own.

Watermelon has a sweet refreshing taste, it is a very tasty and healthy dessert. He copes well with the function of cleansing the kidneys, thus contributing to the improvement of the body as a whole. Its use is recommended for people suffering from urolithiasis and women who want to become pregnant. Watermelon not only removes toxins from the body, but also saturates it with folic acid - a substance that promotes conception. And this berry helps to lose excess weight. It practically does not contain calories, and thanks to the high sugar content it helps to create saturation effect. True, get involved in a watermelon diet for more than one week is impossible.

For all this, for some reason, watermelon is not often used for canning, like other berries or fruits. Cherry, strawberry or plum jam is the norm. But the compote of watermelon - almost exotic. Compote of watermelon is prepared very simply. For 1 kg of pulp you need 5-6 glasses of water and 250-300 grams of sugar. All. True, you first need to separate the pulp from the crust, remove all the seeds and cut the berry into cubes. While we do this, syrup is cooked on the stove. To do this, in enameled vessels, we bring the necessary amount of water to a boil and dissolve sugar in it. Next - the pulp is added to the syrup and wait until the future compote of watermelon boils. Boil for another 5-6 minutes in a weak boiling mode, pour the drink into heated glass sterilized jars and roll them with tin lids. After this, like any conservation, the heat is wrapped and left alone until completely cooled.

Our compote of watermelon for the winter is ready. To the table it is usually served cold. To enhance the taste of summer, you can add a lobule of lemon or a spoonful of honey to the drink - it's like someone like it. The compote has a very pleasant smell, a beautiful color, is considered light, despite the sufficient amount of sugar in it.
