Composition-description: specifics of stylistics and difficulties in writing

The composition-description is one of the most widespread and, it is possible even to say, standard types of written works. It is also considered to be the simplest of all.

The genre characteristic

So, at the heart of this work lies the description as a kind of speech. That's why it's quite easy to compose. After all, there are certain elements of the narrative in the description, and they are an integral part of our colloquial speech.

The composition-description answers a question that sounds something like this: "Which one?" Or "What?". And to respond to it is necessary in a special way, in accordance with the style. It is necessary that the author be able to feel the specificity of the descriptive style of speech. What are its features? Any composition-description should contain details. In them - the whole point. Whether it is an essay-the description of an object, thing, person or phenomenon-it is interesting to tell about them. At this moment it is necessary to imagine yourself an artist and be able to draw a picture with a word. This is perhaps the most difficult, especially for those students who are to do this for the first time.

Speech style

Many students perceive the phrase "more details" literally. This is bad, because they are just starting to list everything. If, for example, a composition-description of a person has been given , many write about the following: "She has beautiful blonde hair, blue eyes, expressive lips and aristocratic nose."

Banal enumeration is suitable for a thesis plan, which then is planned to write an essay, but in the work itself the topic of the description should be maximally disclosed.
The same phrase can be submitted much more expressively, if you arrange it accordingly. For example: "Her appearance is unusual: beautiful blond hair that gleams in the sun with gold, bottomless eyes of the color of a stormy sky and sensual scarlet lips - her image can inspire an artist to paint a picture, which later becomes a world masterpiece." The difference is obvious: the meaning has not changed, but the phrase was submitted much more effectively. Such a proposal wants to read with aspirations - in this style, the author's inspiration is felt, which is also transmitted to the reader.

Knowing of limits

The extent to which the author feels the measure of what is permitted is very important. In written speech - especially. The writing-description, though it requires details and adjectives, but their abundance is unacceptable. Otherwise, the text will lose its meaning. It is necessary to be able to reasonably combine beautiful descriptive phrases with reasoning and narrative. Otherwise, it will not be an essay, but an artistic reading, slightly similar to literature written in the style of melodrama.

How to describe a person?

If an essay is dedicated to a person (this may be, by the way, a literary character), then attention must be paid not only to his appearance, but also to his character. Mood, habits, facial expressions, habits, too, it is desirable to touch. All this will help to create a more complete picture of the person, especially if the image is very contradictory - for example, with a beautiful appearance, but an ugly soul.

By the way - an excellent topic. This can be written approximately as follows: "This is an ideal person." Expressive cheekbones, lips of regular shape, smooth nose, confident look of intelligent brown eyes - this young man was really beautiful. "But his soul was not as perfect as appearance. With difficulty concealed his hatred of life, people, society under the mask of decency. "And this did not make him any more beautiful."

Every person will have an image of the very young man or the perfect girl, mentioned earlier, after reading. In the works of this genre it is important to consider all the details. And let them be a little: a little bit about the appearance, a few words about habits, about how he grins, a few phrases about the character - all this will help the creation of a full-fledged portrait much more than a simple dry enumeration of the things obvious to the author.

Landscape essay

Genre "landscape essay" as such does not exist. However, many schoolchildren have to write a composition-description of the forest. Or the sea landscape. And maybe a mountain. In any case, the description of nature is an essay on which every schoolboy has to work. By the way, it's much easier to do this than, for example, to tell about a person.

In this case, too, you can not do without details and artistic expressive means. In other words, the principle is the same, only one needs to describe nature, not man. Take, for example, the seascape. "A light breeze, exciting blue, like turquoise, the water of an unlimited sea, going far beyond the horizon, a fresh wind, blowing your face cool, barely audible in the distance the cries of seagulls - everything is so peaceful, calm ... Being here, a person involuntarily begins to believe that time Stopped. " This phrase is quite suitable for describing what the author wants to convey.

Conclusion

As can be seen from the examples given earlier, the most important thing that the composition-description requires is the details. They should be in moderation, just like "beautiful words". But their presence is necessary, since otherwise the essay will not correspond to genre features.

And finally, it should be said about how the conclusion should look like. In it the author should express his attitude to what he told. And it should not look like "I believe ...". It is necessary to do this carefully, as if the author of the work does not speak at all. Take the same example with a description of a handsome young man. How best to complete your story about such a specific character? You can write something like this: "We are surrounded by many beautiful people, they can have perfect figures and well-groomed aristocratic faces, an incredible eye color or an expressive look that can not be torn off, but inside they can be empty." Evil, soulless, Selfish. "Appearance is important, no doubt, but is it worth paying attention only to it? ..."

Complete an essay of this kind open question will be a good author's course. Usually such an epilogue leaves the impression of understatement and gives an opportunity to think over what has been read.
