Blind area around the house

After the construction of the house or garage is completed, you are happy to inspect their new property. But it's too early to dream of long exploitation, because the blind area around the house has not been made. Some owners consider this stage of construction superfluous. But they are deeply mistaken. Do you want to know what is blind area around the house and what is it for? We will tell you about it in detail.

The durability of the operation of any building depends on the condition of its foundation, which has enormous loads. A plentiful melting of snow in the spring, heavy rains in the fall and severe frosts in winter can create big problems for the owner of the house. Under the influence of water, the outer walls of the foundation are destroyed, which leads to a distortion of the structure and the appearance of cracks. Therefore, the main task of any builder is not only to erect a building, but also to take care of diverting water from its walls. Blinds are the simplest and most effective way to solve this problem. Let's look at two options for doing this kind of construction work.

Pavement tiling

This method is called "hard", because during work a cement solution is used, fixing the tiles in a certain position. Before starting work, you need to determine the size of the area on which the blind area around the house will be located. Its minimum width is 50-60 centimeters. But it is necessary to take into account the structural features of the roof of the house. The stage should extend beyond its limits by at least 20 centimeters.

With the help of a shovel dig a trench of the necessary width about 30 centimeters deep around the perimeter of the entire building. We treat the surface with herbicides, which will help to destroy the roots of weeds in this area. After that we cover the bottom with geotextile, leaving allowances on the side walls of the trench. Fall asleep a layer of small gravel 15-20 centimeters thick. Over it, we distribute the sand evenly and carefully weave the entire underlying layer. Do not forget to make a slope from the wall of the house about 5-10 degrees.

After carrying out the preparatory work, we are preparing the solution. To do this, take one part of the water and cement, and mix with three parts of sand. We put the thick solution on a small surface of the lining layer and on top of it we have a pre-prepared tile. With the help of an easy tapping of the kijan, we achieve the greatest adhesion of the surface of the finish with the solution. We try not to stack more than six tiles at the same time.

We leave the blind for two days, during which we completely exclude the presence of any load on it. During this time, the solution completely solidifies and tightly fixes the tile in place. We prepare a more liquid cement solution than for styling, and with the help of a brush, we smear all the seams. Pour the tiles with cold water and leave for another two days.

How to make a "soft" type of screen?

This is the easiest and fastest way to drain water from the foundation of the building. First you have to dig a trench of the necessary width. On its bottom we put the rolled geotextile, leaving not less than 20 centimeters for a call on the sidewall of the basement. Part of the removed soil is laid back. We fall asleep with a layer of fine gravel or coarse-grained sand. Such a blind area around the house has only one drawback - it can not be walked on.

If you want to use it as a walking path, you will need to strengthen the structure with pavers or tiles. In this case, ten centimeters of sand are laid on top of the gravel bed. The surface is wetted and repeatedly rammed. On the sand we lay the tile, pushing it with a kyanki. Stitches are filled with sand. Do not forget about the mandatory slope of at least five degrees from the wall of the building.
