Compatibility analysis of spouses

Today, infertile couples are growing, and it's very sad. If, during the examination of both spouses, there are no pathologies on the part of the reproductive system, doctors prescribe an analysis for the compatibility of partners.

What is compatibility?

Approximately 6% of all reasons for the absence or miscarriage of pregnancy is infertility on immunological grounds. This means that two people are incompatible with each other, in the body of a woman antibodies are produced to the spermatozoa of a man, as a result of which they perish like alien particles. Naturally, pregnancy in this case can not occur, but even if it occurred, a fetal egg that has half a chromosome set from the father will also become foreign and will be destroyed for up to three weeks.

To date, it is not completely clear why this is happening, but it has already been confirmed that scraping, ovarian and uterine surgery, the presence of an intrauterine device, and even inflammation may be the reason for the activation of antibodies directed to the destruction of spermatozoa.

A male organism can also have antibodies to its own spermatozoa. This can be understood if, during the examination, the glued together and inactive sediments are visible in the microscope . It is suggested that high temperatures, injuries and scrotal surgery can provoke the formation of antibodies.

Compatibility analysis of spouses

In order to test whether two people fit together, a number of studies are carried out.

The very first compatibility test is a postcoital test (Shuvarskogo-Gunnera) . The essence of it is to determine the number of live sperm in cervical mucus, taken from the vagina in a woman during the period of ovulation. A small amount of mucus is applied to a slide and examined in a microscope.

This assay for compatibility is not considered by all doctors to be reliable, because it is necessary to conduct the examination specifically for ovulation, while at other times the quality of the cervical mucus varies greatly and a false negative result is possible. Incorrect test can be for other reasons, for example, lack of estrogens in the body of a woman, stenosis of the cervical canal, scars on the cervix, inflammation of the cervical canal. The analysis may be inaccurate and because of oligospermia and sexual disorders in men.

In view of the large number of errors, this test should not be regarded as the main one, there are other more reliable methods of examination.

For clarification, a Kurzrock-Miller test can be carried out. It consists in the fact that the woman's cervical mucus is connected on a slide with the spermatozoa of another man, and the male spermatozoa with the slime of another (giving birth) a woman.

Determination of antisperm antibodies (MAR-test and latex agglutination method) is the main immunological assay for compatibility. It is performed in both men and women, in pairs that have a negative postcoital test. The material is sperm, mucus and blood.

There is also genetic compatibility analysis (HLA-typing) , during which the level of similarity of DNA of the mother and father is studied. In the norm of these coincidences should not be.

Nature so conceived that with the "similarity" of genes the child simply should not be born, because with the genetic material he inherits not only external signs, but also predisposition to any diseases. This can be most clearly seen by looking at children whose parents are relatives. Most have physical and mental disabilities. And this is due to the inheritance of identical genes.

Therefore, if immunological incompatibility can be overcome, then genetics can not be affected. Of course, any form of incompatibility brings pain and suffering to the couple, but it is worthwhile to weigh the pros and cons before deciding to part or use donor material for conception.
