Coleman Mark. The path of a fighter

MMA is a sport that took just a couple of decades to conquer the whole world. Spectacular battles of masters of mixed style will not leave indifferent any admirer of single combats. In the mixfight you can use both punches and kicks, and wrestling technique. Thanks to this tough sport, the myths about undefeated karatekers who killed with one blow and other masters of traditional martial arts attributed to themselves superhuman opportunities were dispelled. Most of the strongest MMA fighters came out of the fight. One of the most famous wrestlers in mixed martial arts was Coleman. Mark received the nickname "Hammer" and fully justified it with his uncompromising manner of fighting. What led a talented fighter in this bloody sport?

Carier start

Sports "Hammer" was fond of since childhood. He loved the free-style wrestling and achieved excellent results in it, becoming the second in the world championship. Seventh place at the Olympic Games in 1992 is another achievement that Coleman can boast of. Mark after the completion of the wrestler's career decided to try himself in the then still young tournament UFC. In those early times there were no weight categories and after the first battles Coleman seemed completely unbeatable.

"Hammer" easily overturned his opponents on the floor, where they were not able to resist his huge arms. Like two heavy hammers, they fell upon the faces of the unfortunate fighters, leaving them even a phantom chance to win. After the weight categories were introduced in the UFC, Mark Coleman became a heavyweight champion, defeating Dan Severn.

First defeat

But the succession of victories of this monster of struggle did not last long. Maurice Smith was the first to pick up the right strategy for the battle against Coleman. The huge muscles of the "Hammer" look formidable and intimidating, but, in protracted battles, they can turn from an advantage into a significant drawback. The insidious kickboxer skillfully defended himself in the pit, avoiding the monstrous blows that Coleman gave him. Mark spent a lot of time in a more advantageous, attacking position, but never managed to realize his advantage. Moreover, Maurice Smith, being in a defensive position, struck the right punches and elbows on the face of Mark Coleman.

The tactics of the master of shock fighting brought fruit. As soon as the fight went into the rack, Coleman turned into a clumsy whipping boy. His strength was not enough to transfer the fight to the ground, and in the rack Smith just smashed the eminent fighter. By some miracle, the "Hammer" managed to survive until the end of the battle, but there was no trace of its frightening reputation.

Black line

After this fight, the opponents of Mark Coleman perfectly understood what to do. While the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was gaining popularity, the masters of which could easily defend themselves in the stalls from a seemingly losing position. Therefore, the strategy, which continued to adhere to Coleman, ceased to justify itself. The next fight he spent at the UFC was very similar to the fight with Maurice Smith, the only difference being that Piti Williams knocked out the Hammer with a sharp kick. The next defeat from Pedro Rizzo was on the decision of the judges, which seemed controversial to many. Despite this, Coleman hardly deserved victory in that fight.

After a series of unfortunate failures, Mark did not give up, he began to participate in a new tournament, called PRIDE. However, even here luck did not smile at him. Nabuhiko Takada was able to overcome the "Hammer" in his first battle. Many athletes would drop their hands after such a series of setbacks, but not Coleman. Mark continued to perform in the MMA, where he spent many more great fights.

Fedor Emelianenko vs Mark Coleman

Many were looking forward to the battle between these harsh heavyweights. Their manner of fighting was similar, and both of them were fighters, so the fight promised to be interesting. And so it happened, especially when the "Hammer" went behind his back, which Fedor had so unintentionally given.

Mark Coleman tried to realize his advantage by making a stifling reception, but Emelianenko as an experienced fighter did not allow him to do so. Struggle ensued, as a result of which Fedor spent a painful hand in hand, forcing the American to surrender.

After this fight, Coleman was furious. He took from the ring only the disappointment that devoured him from the inside. The operator photographed how he, leaving the room, loudly cursed the floor and smashed everything that came across in his way. This shows how important it was for him to fight with a Russian fighter.

Revenge

Two years later, another meeting was held with Fedor Emelianenko - Mark Coleman. "Hammer", of course, wanted to take revenge for the unfortunate defeat of the painful on hand, but instead he had a completely indistinct duel, acting as a whipping boy. Coleman tried to force Fedor to fight in the stalls, but he skillfully blocked these attempts, inflicting a lot of blows on Mark's face. The longer this fight lasted, the more the American wrestler's face looked like a swollen blood mask. The blows of the Russian heavyweight were not in vain. However, this battle ended with a pain on the arm, which the "Last Emperor" skillfully spent at the first opportunity.

This fight showed that the years are taking their toll and Mark Coleman's career is coming to an end. In this case, do not forget that much younger and famous fighters lost to Fedor, having shown less resistance. Be that as it may, Mark Coleman made his contribution to the development of MMA, which earned the gratitude of all fans of this spectacular sport.
