Black and White - Scotch whiskey

What is famous about Scotland? The beauty of ancient castles, its high mountains, the song of bagpipes and, perhaps, a fairly sensational Loch Ness monster. But there is in this slightly gray and rainy kingdom and its own calling card, which the whole world knows about. This is traditional Scotch whiskey. One of the most popular today is Black and White - whiskey, which has a clean and soft, slightly sweet taste. The drink in an ordinary bottle with a modest black and white sticker became famous throughout the world thanks to James Bashenan. About how it was, we'll tell in this article.

A little earlier

The story of Black and White (whiskey), began with a young guy who came from the outback to conquer the capital of Britain. The only job that he was offered at that time was the search for buyers for what was not noticeable, gray and boring, like Scotland itself , whiskey. Surprisingly, the young man not only began to cope with his work, but also managed to organize the delivery to the very heart of London, and later to all other major trade outlets. So whiskey, which was called "House of Commons", began to become popular. But in the drink itself nothing has changed, it remained the same, with a dull pale label, where it was written in black and white: "House of Common". The buyers did not particularly read the name, but simply said: "I have something black and white ..."

First there was popularity

James Bashenen, namely that was the name of the young man, did not stop at the career of the distributor. He quietly studied the skill of blending and after a while could give life to a completely new, but already his own, drink. The name did not become the name, a label with the inscription "Black and White" (or Black and White) was pasted onto the bottle. Whiskey, which we know today, has appeared quite unusually. First he became famous, and only then he saw the light.

Black and white ... a dog?

Many will be wondering why on the label of an alcoholic beverage black scotch terrier and white highland are adorned. Black and White - whiskey, and what does the dog have to do with it? James wanted his drink to have a special business card. But what a black-and-white card should be like, it was not easy to come up with. Once, after visiting the exhibition of dogs, he drew attention to a couple of Scottish terriers: white and black. And they did not go unnoticed by the composer of the blend. If whiskey should have its own distinctive feature, then such a contrasting couple is one of the best solutions. So Black and White - whiskey, born in Scotland - on the label appeared two loyal friends: the white highland and black Scotch terrier. By the way, dogs also did not remain in obscurity, and today they are famous as much as a popular drink.

Scotch Whiskey

Traditionally, this drink is chilled. Whiskey is often a part of alcoholic cocktails or is drunk clean, with the addition of ice. Cold cubes will gradually dissolve in a light and pleasant scotch, making it soft and emphasizing the fragrance. On the basis of this scotch, a lot of cocktails are prepared, both widely known and complex in composition, and quite simple.

What is the taste of Black and White whiskey? Reviews of his fans, namely they can give a decent evaluation of the drink, they say that this whiskey has a mild taste and a delicate aroma in combination with a good fortress. The drink contains light peat notes combined with the freshness of mown grass. Honey motifs give it a little sweetness, which remains in a pleasant aftertaste.

How much is Black & White (whiskey)? The price for one bottle starts from 2000 rubles. This is not much and not enough for an excellent Scottish whiskey with a century old history. Such a drink is created in order to envelop you with your warmth on a cold winter evening or become a pleasant addition to communication in a good company of old friends.
