How to choose a wine?

Wine is one of the oldest, noble and popular beverages in the modern world. But it is worth noting that this drink is ancient, and, therefore, the traditions of its use are no less ancient. Wine is just the drink that we are used to serving. But very few know how to choose a wine, so that it matches the occasion and is in harmony with the dishes on the table.

In fact, ideally, on the contrary, dishes should be selected to wine, as the corresponding food only emphasizes the palatability and aroma of the wine. But, before asking the question "how to choose wine?", It is necessary to familiarize yourself with the rules of its use.

How do wine drinkers appreciate this drink? There are many ancient traditions that have not lost their importance to this day, since it is the adherence to it that allows you to enjoy the wonderful taste and smell of a noble drink.

First, you need to pay attention to the glass. It should be made of thin and necessarily clear glass, as otherwise the color of the drink will be distorted. The glass should have a medium-length leg. As for the shape of the glass, it is worth giving preference to tulip-shaped dishes. The only exception are glasses for sparkling wines - they are customarily drunk from tall and narrow glasses.

Pour the wine in small portions - no more than a third of the glass. It is the abundance of air that allows the aroma of the drink to fully manifest itself. To begin with, you need to mix the drink a little in a glass, allow it to spread over the walls, and only then enjoy the bouquet of aromas. The exception to the rule is only champagne, as they need to fill the glass completely. It is believed that this is how you can strengthen the formation of bubbles, which are designed to enhance the characteristic taste of the drink.

Having appreciated the color and smell of wine, you can start tasting it. Wine should not be swallowed immediately - hold it in your mouth for a few moments - it will give you the opportunity to feel all the taste qualities of the drink. In addition to the correct supply and use, there are also rules of "good taste" that will tell you how to choose the right wine so that it matches the dishes and emphasizes their taste.

How to choose wine according to the dishes? If you are still wondering how to choose a wine, then you should know that the rules are really quite simple. The meaning here is the color of the wine, its aging, the sugar content. It is worth paying attention also to the temperature of the drink when it is served. For example, white wines should be served chilled, the temperature should not be more than 12 degrees. They are perfectly combined with light snacks, for example, fish, prawns, shellfish and other seafood. In addition, white wine can be served and a light dietary meat dish, such as chicken or rabbit.

To the same dishes you can serve and pink wines, but here you can include smoked meat in the menu. The temperature of this drink should not exceed 14 degrees, but cooling below 10 degrees is also undesirable.

As for red wines, such drinks should have room temperature. You can serve them to meat dishes. For example, very often connoisseurs of this drink serve it along with rare varieties of cheeses.

Sparkling wines, or champagne, should be served chilled. Dry sparkling wine will perfectly emphasize the taste of meat dishes. But sweet or semisweet is better served closer to dessert.

Contrary to popular belief, do not mix champagne with chocolate - it's a bad taste. Chocolate and other sweets are perfect for flavored liqueur wines.
