Mosaic from eggshells - it's fashionable, stylish, practical and economical!

The egg shell, despite the apparent fragility, is quite strong material that is difficult to scratch with a sharp object. By hardness, it comes close to marble chips. This natural material is perfectly polished. In the east, these properties of the shell have long been noticed. It is due to the fact that this material is available, it is almost worthless, easy to process and paint, easy - it was often used in lacquer painting.

In the oriental lacquer painting, the mosaic made of eggshells is very common. Small pieces of shells were glued where it was necessary to depict an old, cracked wall. Mosaic eggshells of white color imitated on the wall panels - flowering spring gardens or snow-capped mountain tops drowning in snow-white clouds.

Mosaic from eggshells is called - "krale". Its peculiarity and attractive uniqueness lies in the krakalurah - the so-called cracks, which form a bizarre pattern.

When trying to straighten this material, many cracks and different sizes of pieces are formed immediately, but they do not crumble due to the inner film. Many cracks are almost invisible, but if the dye is applied, the mesh ornament becomes visible, and the usual shell becomes unique in terms of the decorative material.

If you try to make a mosaic from the shell with your own hands, then immediately the question arises: "How to put a mosaic?". It makes sense to start working with a simple, unpretentious composition.

To create a mosaic panel you need a clean, dried egg shell. To do this, it must be lowered for three minutes in a weak solution of baking soda, then rinse thoroughly under running water. Dry and use only dry material.

Next, to work on a panel of egg shells will require:

  • Sheet of cardboard;
  • Children's coloring;
  • A simple pencil;
  • PVA glue;
  • Tetrad or newspaper sheets;
  • A rolling pin or a glass bottle.

The process of creating a mosaic of egg shells or how to lay a mosaic

Egg shell, not yet shredded, must be placed between the sheets of the notebook or newspaper. Carefully, several times rolled rolling on the surface of the sheet crushing this brittle material. It must be remembered that too small pieces will make work more difficult, and too large pieces will look gross and do not give a panel of sophistication and accuracy.

Next, you need to prepare a sheet of cardboard. It should be clean and fit in size, on the prepared cardboard, apply the necessary drawing with a pencil. If this will cause difficulty, you can use a stencil or cut out the necessary contour drawing from a child's coloring and paste it on a sheet of cardboard. Once the workpiece is ready, you can start working on the mosaic.

A small section of the picture should be covered with a layer of PVA glue, then gently, evenly scatter the shell over the surface covered with glue. It is very important to observe clear boundaries of the image. You can use a knife or stack to do this. Try to lay the material in an even layer.

At the end of the work, once the glue dries, the pattern should be painted, you can apply food colors. This will give the work a finished look. If there is a desire to bring the work to perfection, then you can cover the panel with varnish and allow it to dry out.

Some masters use only unshroken shells in their work, skillfully playing with natural shades of this material. And in this case, to show all the beauty of this unique material is used as the final stage - grinding to matte shine, sandpaper "zero". As a result, the mosaic from the egg shell does not look like a shell panel, but as an inlay made of white marble or ivory. The similarity is extraordinary!
