"Arava": instructions for use.

"Arava" is a medicine that relates to basic antirheumatic drugs. Has anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, immunomodulating and antiproliferative action.

The drug "Arava": pills.

The active substance is leflunomide. There are three types of tablets that differ in the amount of active substance. Namely: 10 mg, 20 mg, 100 mg.

The excipients include lactose monohydrate, povidone, colloidal silicon dioxide, crospovidone, corn starch, talc, magnesium stearate.

The medicine "Arava". Instruction: indications.

The drug serves as the main drug intended for the treatment of patients (adults) who have an active form of rheumatoid arthritis. As a result of the "Arava" method, the symptoms of the disease decrease in patients, as well as the development of structural injuries in the joints.

Moreover, this drug can be taken in the treatment of the active form of psoriatic arthritis.

Arava. Instruction: contraindications.

This medication has a lot of contraindications, and therefore, before taking the device, it is absolutely necessary to consult a doctor in charge. Do not neglect these prohibitions and then hope for the best.

The main contraindications include:

• impaired liver function;

• severe anemia;

• disorders of bone marrow blood flow;

• thrombocytopenia;

• Lakopenia;

• Renal failure (this is due to the fact that there are not enough clinical trials that would say what would happen in this case);

• severe immunodeficiency diseases (including AIDS);

• severe infections that are difficult to control;

• severe hypoproteinemia;

• Lactation period;

• pregnancy;

• Individual intolerance or hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components, especially if to leflunomide.

Moreover, the drug is strictly contraindicated for women who are of childbearing age and who do not use reliable contraceptives. Pregnancy is strictly prohibited.

Men who undergo treatment with leflunomide must be informed of the fact that the drug can have a fetotoxic effect on the body. That is, there may be some influence on spermatozoa. It is also necessary to use only reliable and quality contraceptives.

It is worth noting that the drug is not desirable to use at the age of 18 years, because there is no exact data on such studies.

Medicinal product "Arava". Instruction: overdose.

In case of abuse of the drug, various undesirable effects may appear. If you allow an overdose and, at the same time, neglect the instruction for contraindications, then serious consequences are possible.

Symptoms of overdose are:

• diarrhea;

• Lakopenia;

• changes in liver function;

• stomach ache;

• Anemia.

For treatment, it is recommended to take activated charcoal or colestyramine in order to quickly cleanse the body.

This medication has many side effects. They are more common in those who use the drug, despite all the prohibitions and instructions of doctors.

Side effects are divided into groups.

The cardiovascular system:

• marked increase in blood pressure;

• moderate increase in blood pressure.

Digestive system:

• diarrhea;

• vomiting;

• nausea;

• aphthous stomatitis;

• pain in the abdominal cavity;

• Ulceration of the lips;

• pancreatitis;

• disorders of taste buds.

Hepatobiliary system:

• increased activity in hepatic transaminases;

• Hyperbilirubinemia;

• jaundice;

• Hepatitis;

• severe liver damage (very rare);

• liver failure (very rare);

• Liver necrosis in acute form (very rarely).

Metabolism:

• increased activity of CK;

• hypokalemia;

Hypophosphatemia;

• hyperlipidemia;

• Hypo-uricemia.

CNS:

• headache;

• paresthesia;

• dizziness;

• anxiety;

Peripheral neuropathy.
